Settled in the Maritimes of Canada, surrounded by the forest and Acadian Mountain Chain, I live a simple life of gratitude. This blog is a journal of my art, food, furkids, garden, home, my life and my thoughts. Thanks for reading!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! ππ
π¨For our π¨ Art Date π¨, today's optional prompt is "Figure Drawing". Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it! Daffy Duck decided to let his hair down and let me draw his figure, he's looking pretty sexy! ππ
Taking time to draw is my happy place...life is so busy and chaotic these days! I love Arnold Schwarzenegger! I know him as an actor, not a politician! During his body building days, he had a very chiseled physique. I thought it would be perfect for this week's prompt. I drew this based on the photo I found during his Mr. Olympia and Mr. Universe days. I used ink and graphite pencils.
⬆️⬆️ πFor our π Dinner Date π, I made homemade pizza margherita! I made the dough, the sauce and the cheese!!! (Recipe and video will follow in a few weeks!)
⬆️⬆️ I recently treated myself to a juicer too, I made a delicious carrot and apple juice!
⬆️⬆️ Because of the renovations, there are spots in the basement that are open and I've been catching SO many mice...I have a live trap and I catch and release them. I let them go in the blueberry fields. So far (as I type this) I've caught 27!!
⬆️ The basement wall is done! My carpenter friend Doug came and built it, installed the new window and door, and he was good enough to help put the vinyl siding back up! I just have to give it a good wash and it'll look just like new! Plumbing is this week...hopefully next week is insulation!! ☺ Then I think it's harvest time!!!

Friends, Starting this week, Thursday's Art and Dinner Date will go back to the original format of being posted on Thursdays! I'm starting a new online study course and my homework is due on Wednesdays so I hope you guys are okay with that!!
Also, Blogger has really made a mess with comments, please don't worry if I don't get yours, and please assume that I'm visiting your blog but can't comment! I'm tired of whining about it lol! See you on Thursday!!! ♥♥
Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! (Posted on Wednesdays!) ππ
π¨For our π¨ Art Date π¨, today's optional prompt is "Cartoons and Caricatures". Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it! I caught Bugs Bunny last Saturday night at his restaurant. He was kind enough to take some time to pose for me!
I attempted a self-portrait caricature, but it turned out more like a cartoon so I decided to add colour! I watched a tutorial on how to draw a caricature, but I have to say it went a little over my head! Have any of you tried this? This is my face for Nicole's Friday Face Off! I'm also joining Gillena for her Art For Fun Friday post!
πFor our π Dinner Date π, I made a really refreshing Watermelon Agua Fresca! This is so delicious, especially on a hot summer day. It's a great "mocktail" and so easy to make!
⬆️ I also recorded a Video during one of the walks with the dogs last week!
⬇️ Below I have 3 "before" shots of the basement inside wall.
⬆️ I did all of the prep work. I had to remove all of the pink insulation, hard Styrofoam insulation, vapour barrier and spray foam that seemed like it was CRAZY GLUED around the garage door. It was quite a job but I'm proud that I got it all done by myself! I'm really learning a lot about my home and how to take care of it! π
⬆️ I also had to remove the vinyl siding from the outside wall. This was very hard on my hands, but I managed to get it all done in about 2 hours.
⬆️ I may have to replace the sheathing material because there were parts where it was all ripped up (to the right of the broken door). An update might be due, this house was put together over 30 years ago.
⬆️ Day 3 had me realizing that the week ahead of rain might soak the wood on my wall because the sheathing was ripped up. So I decided to cover the entire area with tarp.
⬆️ I wrapped the tarp around long pieces of lumber and stapled it on. Then I installed hooks on the top and screws in the walls. This will make it easier for me to remove and replace the tarp when needed. I also used the vinyl siding with some rocks and my bird seed cans to secure the bottom. There's a little overlap in the middle so I can get out from the garage door.
Good thing I did this because we had MONSOON rains yesterday and Doug couldn't make it, he was worried the lumber might get soaked. But he's here today and I'll update you more next week!
⬆️ I have basically moved my office and studio into my screen tent. I spend as much time outside as I can because our winters are so horribly long and cold! I always bring the pets with me! ⬆️ Here's Jack!
⬆️ And Raven, you can really see her brace and harness in this photo!
⬆️ And Baby Oscar! I used to leave Oscar inside because I was afraid he'd scratch up the screen, but he really just wants to hang out with his pack, so he comes out with us! He's such a good boy! π
I hope you're all well and enjoying life!! πππ

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! (Posted on Wednesdays!) ππ
π¨For our π¨ Art Date π¨, today's optional prompt is "Lines and Contours". Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it! Check out Bugs Bunny's lines and contours, ooh la la! π I drew this image from the Warner Brothers short "Hillbilly Hare" from the 1950's where Bugs dressed up to fool the hillbillies who were after him! He's such a stinker!
⬆️⬆️ Blogger b**ching again lol...I did some research. The Captcha thingy interferes with embedded comment forms a lot of the times. I rarely see Captcha when I'm trying to leave comments on blogs where the comments are embedded. I guess it's hit and miss. Tom, I tried to leave 2 comments on your blog last week, but they seem to have disappeared! There are so many others too, who seem to be missing my comments! I will keep trying and am hoping Blogger fixes it! π PS Christine, this was my comment for your post!!! π
⬆️⬆️ Here are a few doggy faces for Nicole's Friday Face Off! Lines and contours of my lovely fur babies! I'm also joining Gillena for her Art For Fun Friday post! (Sis I hope you're feeling better!)
⬆️⬆️ I did a little 3D art this week too, using lines and contours to trick your eyes!
⬆️⬆️ More penne, with fresh tomatoes, parsley, olive oil and S&P. I'm trying too cook as little as possible during this heat wave!
⬆️⬆️ Take a good look friends! This is my basement wall at the back of my house. Next week I will be very absent...I will post for TADD but you might not see my comments (not because of Blogger!). This wall is being rebuilt, which means I have to remove the broken door (to the right), the vinyl siding and the insulation on the inside. My carpenter friend Doug caught Covid last month but now he's all better - called me today saying he'll be here Tuesday (eek). I had to call my neighbour Perry who is taking the garage door on condition he remove it himself! Doug's going to put in a proper dryer vent, a new door and a window. I sure hope it all goes well! Please pray for me, I need it!!!
⬆️⬆️ For Rain's Kitchen and Garden, I'm sharing a few videos. I had to Shock My Well a few weeks back. For those who don't know, that means adding bleach to get rid of bacteria.
⬆️⬆️ I also Picked Blueberries on my acreage! We had a bear sighting lately, just across the road! They are eating the blueberries. Usually the bears and critters in this area want nothing to do with humans, but I'm carrying my air horn and pepper spray with me just in case!
⬆️⬆️ Here are Jack and Raven during one of our walks, they are best buddies, having fun together, I'm so in love with them!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! (Posted on Wednesdays!) ππ
π¨For our π¨ Art Date π¨, today's optional prompt is "The First Thing You See Today". Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it!
Tweety Bird is very lucky! The first thing he sees each morning when he opens up his eyes is Granny bringing him breakfast in bed!! π This will be my face for Nicole's Friday Face Off! I'm also joining Gillena for her Art For Fun Friday post!
I hope you're all getting my comments! I noticed that my comments seem to disappear when the comment form is on the same page as the post. The message above appears, but the comment doesn't always get to you! Just please know that I do visit if comments disappear! And if anyone from TADD who participated doesn't see my comment within 5 days of the post, please let me know!
David posted a beautiful photo on his blog last week of a Red-spotted Admiral butterfly. His wife Miriam took the photo and I asked him if I could draw it. Well, it started out looking pretty realistic, then as I usually do, I veered away from the reference photo! I still like how it turned out! I used Prismacolor pencils to draw this; and odorless solvent to blend!
The first thing I see each morning are the sweet faces of Jack, Baby Oscar and Raven!
When I remember to leave my curtains open a little, I also see a beautiful sunrise over the woods and mountains! I painted this with acrylic paints.
πFor our π Dinner Date π, I made a delicious Pull Apart Bread, using my No Knead Bread and blended Homemade Pizza Sauce for dipping! It's made with garlic butter, Mozzarella and Parm...all melted in the oven. A nice comfort food treat!
Breakfast Chalupa! Aimeslee told me it's not a burrito if you don't roll it up, it's a chalupa! Thanks Aimeslee! π
Another quick meal is roasted potatoes on tortillas with Homemade Salsa.
In the garden, I picked about 4 cups of blueberries! I'm lucky that I have wild blueberries all over my acreage. Too many to pick, but this is a good start! I think these will turn into blueberry simple syrup!
I also picked my garlic scapes! I didn't plant as many garlic bulbs this year, only 16. When the scapes start to curl, they're ready to harvest! If you don't harvest them, the plant puts a lot of energy into turning those bulbs into flowers and your garlic won't be as large had you snipped the scapes off!
I dehydrated them and ran them through the blender to make garlic scape powder! I'll be uploading that video in the next few weeks! 16 garlic scapes made about 7 1/2 teaspoons of garlic scape powder!
...and an easy beginner tutorial on How To Insert An Image With A Clickable Link in your post and on your sidebar. I used the TADD button as an example, but this goes for any photo with any link! If you'd like other Blogger tutorials, feel free to ask!
