Settled in the Maritimes of Canada, surrounded by the forest and Acadian Mountain Chain, I live a simple life of gratitude. This blog is a journal of my art, food, furkids, garden, home, my life and my thoughts. Thanks for reading!
Welcome to Thursday's Art Date! ๐๐ Today our theme is Snowman. Daffy Duck is up to some hijinks this week!
He's finally getting back at Bugs Bunny for some of his own shenanigans! I hope he knows what he's doing!! ๐
I pulled out my watercolor paints this week, it's been a while! There was a time when I only painted with watercolor and it was fun. A good friend of mine gave me a beautiful care package of art supplies for Christmas and this was a great inspiration for me. Thanks Joyce! ♥♥ Here's a little romantic scene with a Snow Couple by the Moon! ๐
I've also been experimenting with "Shorts". These are You Tube videos that have 2 requirements:
1) They must be under 1 minute
2) They must be filmed vertically and uploaded vertically
So here is my first short, Drawing Bugs Bunny; and so far it's gotten almost 500 views, pretty nice! I'm going to continue to film a short each week for my Art Channel!
PS: For those interested, I've started a few new pages here on my blog. They are easy to search indexes of the videos I have up on both my channels. I put a link on the right side bar. That's one thing I find YouTube lacks. It can be overwhelming to look through dozens of thumbnails, so I wanted to make it easier:
I also had a little fun with my Boggle letters while thinking about dinner! I did my first "Short" for my Spiritual Rain Channel too if you'd like to check it out.
Critter time! ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฆ Here is a little video I took from my window of a Hairy Woodpecker at the suet feeder.
I decided to add a frugal feeder to my backyard this week. These are easy to make, you just need an empty 2 liter soda bottle, some wooden dowels or sticks, a drill to make holes, sand paper and wire to hang the feeder. I used a glue gun to secure the dowels. The chickadees love to feed at this feeder!
The pets are all doing well. Our weather is bananas. The day I took this photo it was -8 Celsius, and as I type this it is +6C and raining, all of the snow is gone! ๐ฎ
My dessert idea was a Yule Log Cake, I make one every year. So I started making my Meringue Mushrooms. I use Homemade Chocolate Sauce to dip the tops of the mushrooms so they stick to the stems, then sprinkle it all with cocoa for that dirty earthy look! They are SO good, they melt in your mouth!! ๐๐
Well, my roll cake was a flop thanks to my crappy oven, but Alex remade the cake and divided what should have been the rolled cake into layers.
He made a Log Cabin cake instead! I was pretty impressed! And it was delicious! ๐๐
Other dinners were ๐ 4-cheese pizza ๐ (Mozz, Cheddar, Parm and Goat Cheese with my Thin Crust Pizza Dough) and lots of breakfast for dinners! This is scrambled egg whites with toast and my Fricassee Potatoes.
The party season is officially over (for now!), it's time that we digest. ๐

Welcome to Thursday's Art Date! ๐๐ Today our theme is December Holidays: Santa's Workshop. I was watching some old Jack Benny television shows on YouTube the other day and Carol Burnett was one of the guest stars. This reminded me of her show, which was so funny...and the cartoon at the end, of her as a "scrub woman"! I guess I figured, now that Christmas is over, Santa's workshop needed a good cleaning and who better to do some hard labour than Bugs Bunny!
I also drew a charcoal drawing of Tim Allen as Santa Claus from the move The Santa Clause. I think he's so funny! I love that movie.
If you'd like to watch the real-time video I made for this tutorial, feel free to click on the image, or on this link!
I also have a few new videos up on my Spiritual Rain channel!
I did something different for the holidays, I made Mex-Mas dinner!
Burritos filled with Refried Beans, Nacho Cheese Dip, tomatoes, lettuce and Cheddar cheese. The tortillas are tomato and spinach flavoured!
I made Tortilla Chips in the shape of snowmen! Cookie cutters come in handy for this!
To the left is my Mexican Dip and to the right the nacho cheese dip. You can barely see the refried beans in the photo above the nacho cheese dip.
Look at that melt!!
We were too full for a big dessert, but I opened up the After Eight sticks and made some Brandy Alexander's. I have some nice food planned for this weekend too!
I wanted to share this gorgeous photo I took from my front door. The spotlight over the door was on and it was snowing...doesn't it look like a painting?
๐ธWISHING ALL OF MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR! I WISH YOU JOY AND LOVE!!! ๐๐๐

Welcome to Thursday's Art Date! ๐๐ Today our theme is December Holidays: Christmas Future. I know this was a challenge for many people, including me!!! Bugs came up with the idea of posing as Ebenezer Scrooge from The Christmas Carol. The Ghost of What Is Yet To Come is showing Bugs how unkempt and forgotten his gravestone would be if he didn't change his ways.
Going with the same movie, I chose a scene to draw with ink and graphite of what life might be like in the Cratchet home if Scrooge didn't pay Bob Cratchet more money! This is actually a scene from the Muppet Christmas Carol - I watched it last weekend! Poor Tiny Tim's cap, scarf and cane, just sitting on that chair, sigh...good thing Scrooge decided to become a kinder man!!
I uploaded real-time videos on how to draw these two scenes if you're interested!
I'm still working hard on all of my courses, I've added a web design course to the mix as well. It's chilly here my friends! Luckily though we haven't gotten too much snow yet! ๐ I decorated one of our little Jack Pine's with some ornaments just to make things cheery and festive outside my window! ๐
All of the pets are doing well! I hope you're all happy and healthy! I'll raise a glass of Fresita to your health! This is a nice Italian sparkling wine and it has a semi-sweet strawberry taste to it, very nice if you can get your hands on it! ๐ท
Look at that dough. When you bake a focaccia, you bake it in oil and it's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, amazing! ๐๐
Once again I was craving some Thanksgiving fair and pulled out my frozen Fruit Ketchup, made some Bread Stuffing with leftover stale bread; and mashed potatoes with Chicken Gravy...gosh I can't get enough of that comfort meal!!
I just wanted to tempt you a little bit ๐ I know, I'm evil...a little bit of hot gravy over melted cheese on fries...yes, a Poutine!
