πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Library!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Library! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it! Tweety Bird is enjoying a quiet morning reading at his local library. I wish I had time to read more!!!

⬆️⬆️
This annoys me to no end...I finally have a morning to visit blogs and I'm SHUT DOWN. Grrr.

⬆️⬆️ Tweety isn't the only bird in this post! I got the trailcam set up in the back again! We have Mourning Doves - and friends, is that a Purple Finch?

⬆️⬆️
 Grackles (TB your favourite! 😁😁)

⬆️⬆️
 Tough guy Grackle puffing up!!!

⬆️⬆️ Here's a short video showing the Grackles and Red-Winged Blackbirds. I filmed it from my window because the slightest movement has them all flying off!

⬆️⬆️
Evening Grosbeak with a Red-Winged Blackbird

⬆️⬆️ Raven and Jack. Jack's monthly vet visit was good! He is still wheezing, but his breathing has not gotten worse, so (fingers crossed!) the tumour hasn't grown in the last month! ☺☺☺

πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹,  I made a very simple pasta dish: Pasta Aglio e Olio - Italian for Pasta with garlic and olive oil. A whole bulb of roasted garlic went into this, with some olive oil, parsley and a little salt. With red pepper flakes (I omitted that) and Parmesan cheese (I didn't have any), it's the authentic recipe. I did add a splash of white wine though, it was so good! And you'd think the garlic would overwhelm but it didn't due to the roasting! I'll share the recipe soon, I haven't had a chance to write it all down!

⬆️⬆️
Speaking of garlic, the bulbs I planted in the fall are popping up!!!

On the video front:

⬆️⬆️ For Rain's Kitchen and Garden, I'm sharing How To Make Easy Pie Crust.

⬆️⬆️ I'm also showing How To Blind Bake Your Pie Crust.

  2. Thankfully I have never seen the message on a blog that you show here. However, there are often frustrations with Blogger. I often get the notice "Whoops! That was an error" only to find out later that my comment got through just fine.
Your pasta dish looks delicious - we eat a lot of pasta in our house. Tonight we had spaghetti with fresh spinach, parmiggiano and egg. Simple but tasty - and quick.
Oh all those birds you capture on your trailcam! I do love the red-winged blackbirds, here we find them mainly at the lake or in the laguna. I do like their distinctive call. The birds will provide you a lot of entertainment.

    1. When I get that "Whoops!" error I roll my eyes again Carola lol...it's always something! Your pasta dish sounds yummy. I also love the call of the Red Winged Blackbirds! This is the first year I've seen to many of them!

I've never seen the comment notice before. Is it from blogger for the total comments you've left on all the blogs you visited? What in the world difference does it make?????

  9. Hello,
Tweety looks at home in the library, well done. I am glad Jack is doing better. Cute photo of Raven and Jack! Love the birds, the Grackles look pretty but my favorite is the Evening Grosbeak. Your pasta meal looks yummy. Take care, enjoy your day!

    1. Me too Eileen, the Grosbeaks have so much character. They chirp at me from the trees when I'm on my way to the feeder, as if to tell me "hurry up! we're hungry!!!" ☺

  10. Rain,

It looks like Tweety is lost in the library. What a cute sketch! I linked up today but I'm off theme. Life has me too busy lately. Hopefully, I can fall back into the groove of things by mid May. We'll see. ;) Your trailcam takes very good pictures. I love seeing wild life. Our security cameras pick up critters at night. It's really fun to see what strays into our yard. We have squirrel, rabbit, fox, opossum, groundhog, chipmunk, and raccoon. Last year we had a mama raccoon with five babies wonder onto our porch one night. They were so cute, especially the one at the end of the line who kept lingering making mama have to wait for him. lol Your pasta dish sounds yummy! Thanks for hosting the art party, my dear. Have a doodletastic day!

    1. Thanks Cathy! Veering off the prompt is optional! I just love seeing everyone's art, it's so inspiring! We saw a mom Racoon with her babes a few years ago, they are adorable, but Raven is a chaser, I have to watch her!

  13. Dear Rain, how nice that Tweety finds time to read! I usually read in bed before falling asleep. The bird photos from the trailcam and your video are also interesting. There's a lot going on! Oh and how pleased am I that Jack's monthly vet visit was good! Of course I cross my fingers!
My husband and I LOVE Pasta Aglio e Olio. Our latest trick is: We use chili-garlic oil instead of red pepper flakes - molto delicioso! πŸ˜‰
All the best from Austria! 🌷☘️🌷

PS: I've never had this message that you've written the maximum number of comments - how can that happen?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I have no idea why Blogger would limit comments, makes no sense. I guess they thought I was a robot or something! Oooh, chili-garlic oil! Great tip!!! ☺

  14. That blog message was a new one to me as well, Rain, and as it referred by my blog I was curious as to whether the message meant that you had left the most comment you could for one day? If so, what a bummer especially since you were on mine 😟 also, I wondered exactly what was the number for a maximum number of comment, which seems rather silly to me.

My late mother used to make Pasta Aglio e Olio quite often and she did include some flakes of red pepper or we could add it later. This week I made another one of her dishes, escarole and beans which also uses olive oil and garlic...so easy, healthful and good. The only drawback is the price of the escarole and you need to have a bunch as it wilts down to nothing, like most greens do. Grenville was surprised at how little the one bunch of escarole reduced!

    1. Dorothy, as I answer comments and visit blogs, I'm counting today. I want to see what Blogger thinks is "enough" comments for a day. It just was random that I landed on your blog when that message popped up. I went back the next day and all was good, but it's still annoying! I know what you mean about the escarole shrinking! It's surprising! Even though I'm aware of it, I still get surprised when I wilt my spinach!! ☺

    1. Jeanie, I sometimes go to Firefox or the new Microsoft Explorer (Edge??) when that happens, but then I have to relog in, and I guess I'm lazy lol...I usually just wait for the next day to continue if I find the time!

  17. I had that comment one time. Did you try restarting your machine? It's not right. It took a couple of days and commenting went back to normal. Isn't it great seeing all the birds returning? And everything starting to grow and get green. Spring is always so exciting. Your food looks yummy. I hope you have a super rest of your week and weekend. hugs-Erika

  20. I see Tweety loves to read.
Coffee is on and stay safe.

  21. Oh I wrote you a big long comment and is disappeared ... so I will try again. Tweety is adorable and I am proud of him for going to the library to read. Reading is one of my favorite things. I love a good mystery and I actually read something that one would consider educational occasionally. David Gascoigne has recommended some good books that I am reading.

So what does that mean "maximum number of comments"? That is ridiculous, there is no such thing. I am not sure I would go to that site any more.
Your Trail cam is a busy little fella ... and yes, I think that is a Purple Finch ... though I have a difficult time telling the difference between the Purple Finch and the House Finch. They both have red on their bodies, the Purple Finch has more but without seeing them together it is hard to tell.
I love seeing Jack and Raven together and Yea for Jack doing so well. I look forward to seeing his cute little face for a long time.
Pasta is one of my favorite downfalls ... It is like potato chips, can't just eat one. I pig out on any kind of noodles which is why I don't fix them often. But, that said, pasta with garlic and olive oil is to die for. My mouth waters just looking at your picture. I think I may have to whip up a batch sometime soon :)
I started your tomato video, but got interrupted, so I will go back and watch it from the beginning again. Always good stuff in your videos. I have learned a lot about water colors from you :)
So next week will you show us how to paint a twist? OMG you think of some of the most difficult prompts. You force us to think, that is for sure. Sure do appreciate all you do ...

    1. How frustrating! That happened to me today too on a blog and I could barely remember everything I wrote! I have a tendency to copy before hitting "reply" now! That "maximum" message is so random Andrea. It's happened to me often on different blogs. I guess Blogger feels that a certain number of comments is too much for them to handle lol...I'm counting as I comment today though. I'm curious.

I also force myself to think of my prompts lol...As I said in email, I put these together once a year, usually in November then I think "What was I thinking???" LOL

  22. Great sketch of Tweety at the library.

I too have had that happen to me when commenting!
I think many of us are still experiencing problems with Blogger and leaving comments, including some going into spam folder when they are not spam!

Take care, and as it's Saturday as I type this, I wish you a good weekend.

  24. Hello Dearest Rain, thank you for stopping by to comment. Its been awhile since I have talked with you. As always, I love your art work. Adorable. I for one have pretty much gotten to the point that I do not do much, painting, photography, or crafting in anyway. Body is failing me. Craftroom is a wreck and I need to get down and go through stuff, move it to the basement, and if I don't use it in the next little bit, I need to get rid of it. I will sure hold on to my paints but beads, ribbons, etc will prob go. Again, as always, that meal looks amazing!

  26. Hi Rain. Yes, Purple Finch looks correct. And I wish I could see all those Red-winged Blackbirds again. I know they are not popular with everyone on your side of the ocean, but I loved seeing them and hearing their unusual singing voice. Garlic I love but Sue not so much – you know the rest. And when I roast garlic I often overcok it and then have to start again!

I hope Jack makes a speedy and complete recovery. Meanwhile, it’s spring at last. Enjoy. We are off to Greece next week for 2 weeks of real sunshine.
