On the left is a cheese pizza with green olives; on the right is a vegan whole wheat dough pizza with Kalamata olives, onions and peppers. ⬆️⬆️ I also painted a happy snow lady with Christmas lights! I used watercolors for this!
😋For our 😋 Dinner Date 😋, I have another yummy cocktail to share! A Brandy Alexander. This is one of my favourite comfort cocktails during the winter! Life has been such a whirlwind, I haven't had time to do much cooking and baking!
⬆️⬆️ For Winter Solstice dinner, I made a chicken-less Coq Au Vin. I haven't been eating chicken lately but I was craving this stew so I made it without the chicken and bacon and used veggie broth instead of chicken broth. Served with mashed potatoes and my homemade Fruit Ketchup - perfect comfort food!
⬆️⬆️ I cheated a bit and bought that Tuxedo cake from the bakery because I ran out of time and energy for a homemade cake! I will be making my Yule Log cake for Christmas this weekend and I'll share that next week!

⬆️⬆️ I decided to try some handmade giftwrap this year! I found all of my supplies at the dollar store: brown packing paper, ribbons and decorations and acrylic paints!
⬆️⬆️ 😋For our 😋 Dinner Date 😋, I have some drinks to share! I made a few mocktails, or non-alcoholic drinks! A Sangria Mocktail and a Shirley Temple!
⬆️⬆️ And for those who imbibe, here's Rain's Christmas Cookie Cocktail! It's made with milk, Baileys, Kahlua and Crème de Menthe! Yummy!
⬆️⬆️ I also did a video with some Christmas Card Ideas. My favourite Rain Frances Art For Kids student, Lily, wanted to do a charcoal Christmas tree drawing for her teacher's Christmas card, so I decided to draw a bunch of ideas for her. This is a great video for kids of all ages!

⬆️⬆️ I also painted a Mermaid looking up at the Big Dipper, this was done with watercolours though I'm kuffuffled because there is a lot of green in that water, but I just couldn't capture it with my camera or the scanner on my printer. I even tried to add green with Photoshop but it looked horrid, I have to figure out a proper way to photograph my paintings!

A big week just passed. The roofers came back to fix the roof issues, so I can finally say I have a proper tin roof installed, relief. I'm prepping video ideas for my YouTube channels, I think December's videos will be a lot of fun! And it was monthly shopping a few days ago, so I'm worn out and recovering from that. I need a few breakfast in bed days to recover! 😫 All is well here! Jack and Raven are making the most of feeling cozy and comfy during our chilly weather! We had a wee bit of snow, but it all melted. (yay!)
😋For our 😋 Dinner Date 😋, I made a very comforting French Onion Soup Au Gratin. It was so delicious with broiled Jarslberg cheese on top of my homemade toasted bread! I'll be making a video and sharing the recipe in the new year!
I also had some pizza...go figure! 😁
My bread baking series continues, this week I made Brown Sugar Raisin Bread! I can't even describe how delicious this tasted - and how my house smells these days! Home baking fragrance - I should bottle it and sell it!!! 😋😋

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Jungle. Tweety Bird decided to imitate a Toucan this week! Actually it's more of an impersonation of Toucan Sam from the Froot Loops cereal box. Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it!
I also painted a Toucan with watercolour paints. Toucans live in the rain forest jungles of Central and South America.

Nobody guessed my really cryptic reference from last week's Bugs Bunny drawing, but Dorothy taught me something new so she gets the prize! Here was her guess:
"Rain, does your question have anything to do with the fact that Homer Laughlin China designed that dinnerware exclusively for Warner Brothers?"
Here was the reference: There was a British sitcom from the 1990's called Keeping Up Appearances. The star of the show came from a working class family but went out of her way to look as regal and proper as she could. Of course, hilarity always ensued from her antics. She often mentioned her "Royal Doulton with the hand-painted periwinkles" as a way to pomp herself up in front of her guests. And because Bugs' pinky was up, it was a joke about how some people see the pinky up as a sign of good manners - in fact it's the opposite according to etiquette expert Emily Post, so please tuck that pinky in (unless you like to joke around like I do!) 😃 Dorothy I'll be mailing out your prize in the next few weeks! ♥
😋For our 😋 Dinner Date 😋, I baked up a storm! I am continuing my Bread series and this week's bread is Buttermilk Biscuits! These were so good!
I also made some Christmas cookies for the freezer. Chocolate Crinkles and some Rum Balls! (recipes and videos coming soon!)
I made some delicious Fruit Ketchup too. I love this on mashed potatoes! It's really good with scrambled eggs too. If you have a nice sharp Cheddar, you can plop a little on top and the flavour combination is divine. I used to serve my fruit ketchup with meat pies (tourtières) as well.
⬆️⬆️ I'm also showing you how I rehabilitate little saplings that I buy from Costco. It's horrible to find a little tree covered with that fake snow gunk. I try to save one every year by removing that fake snow and planting the tree on my land!

😋For our 😋 Dinner Date 😋, I made some pumpkin bread! Our friend Joyce from Octoberfarm sent me her recipe, holy pumpkins...it's dang good! I recorded this for an upcoming video!
I was thinking about all of the dogs who graced my life over the years. My childhood pet, her name was Fluffy...came to mind. She was an English Sheep Dog and she was beautiful. I drew her with charcoal pencils. ♥
And for the "cups" theme, I painted a cup of foamy, bubbly coffee! Maybe a cappuccino! I used watercolors for this painting! ☺

I'm very excited to announce a new series I'm creating! It's a bread baking video series based on the Williams Sonoma Collections Cookbook titled Bread! I announced the new series on my channel yesterday and I'll be uploading bread baking videos every week. There are 40 recipes in the cookbook - I've already made 4 of them!
⬆️ Here is the 1-minute video! Of course I will post the photos and recipe links here on my blog as well!
The heat pump people are arriving this morning to install 2 mini-split heat/cool systems; they are also changing all of my thermostats to digital ones. Apparently the knob version (like the one above) continues to draw power even when you have it turned off! I think that my house should be very energy efficient now! I guess this time next year I'll find out once I see the comparison to the year before!
