Welcome to Thursday's Art Date! 😊😊 Today our theme is December Holidays: Santa's Workshop. I was watching some old Jack Benny television shows on YouTube the other day and Carol Burnett was one of the guest stars. This reminded me of her show, which was so funny...and the cartoon at the end, of her as a "scrub woman"! I guess I figured, now that Christmas is over, Santa's workshop needed a good cleaning and who better to do some hard labour than Bugs Bunny!

I did something different for the holidays, I made Mex-Mas dinner!
I made Tortilla Chips in the shape of snowmen! Cookie cutters come in handy for this!

Nice workshop piece, wonderful charcoal Santa. I saw that meat at the end and did a double take, but it was Nancy's site haha. The Mexican food looks so yummy!

ReplyDeleteI IMMEDIATELY recognized Bugs as Carol Burnett's scrub woman character! You Mex-Mas meal looks delicious! We had tacos for our Christmas Eve dinner because we wanted something that would be completely different than the big traditional Christmas turkey feast we had the next day.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Brandy Alexanders! The last time I had one was a few years ago in the lounge of the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. Cost me $18, but I guess I was paying for "the ambiance," LOL! And what a clever idea to use those After Eight mint sticks as your stir sticks -- love it! All I did with my package of those mint sticks was eat the whole damn thing by myself.

You always say "that's all", but how much more could you possibly share. So much, so much beauty, fun and delicious food and of course, always the fur babies :) I love the picture and yes, it looks like a delicate painting. Poor Bugs gets stuck with the clean up ... oh well, I guess somebody has to do it :) Your Tim Allen Santa Clause is perfect ... it is awesome how you get the hair to look like hair (yes, I watched your tutorial). Your videos are fun and I chuckled how Jack ( who in no way is a snow dog) wants to go back in and Charlie, who has that wonderful winter coat like my Izzi did, just wants to revel in the snow. As for snowman tortilla chips, I laugh because I think the rest of the world buys their chips at the store ... only you would make them from scratch and then cut them out with cookie cutters. That is one thing that makes you so amazing. All of your food looks delicious and tempting and like something I would eat even if I am on a diet :) It is probably a good thing we don't live close to each other ... I can see me putting on the pounds and I still don't get how you avoid it. You must have a magical metabolism like my mother who could down a cake over a weekend and never gain an ounce ( Naturally, I didn't inherit that trait from her :( ) Stay safe and well, Rain ... enjoy your New Years Eve and dive into the New Year with all of the vigor you have already started in the very difficult 2021.

We lost internet for three days starting new years eve day - no cell phone or internet but at least we will had power. i missed the internet a lot.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great capture you took of that falling snow, Rain! Your Mex-Mas dinner foods looked so good, especially those cookie cutter nacho chips in the form of snowmen! The burritos, nacho cheese dip and refried beans all looked yummy just in the photos and Brandy Alexanders afterwards too! Who needed any dessert after such treats. Glad you and Alex had a wonderful year-end celebration at home as we did too. Sending our best wishes to you both and the fur babies as well for a good 2022. Glad we're blogger friends too and one day maybe we will meet face-to-face as New England isn't that far away.

Your Bugs drawings are always so cute. Oh gosh, you are such an amazing artist, and also an amazing cook. I have never been able to put a meal together and set a table as perfect as you do...and I'm old enough to be your grandmother! :) By the way, you are adorable in that cowboy hat. I have a brand new hat and haven't had the nerve to wear it. Happy New Year Rain.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Rain! Gee, I meant to come over before now but it's been one of those weeks. On power was out most of Monday after we got 3-4 inches of snow overnight so that's thrown me a bit to get back into the groove. It's been so cold in east Tennessee this week. I'm ready for spring but I have a long wait for that, huh? I love your Santa's Workshop. I knew instantly that Bugs was dressed like Carol Burnett and that the Santa Claus rendition is of Tim Allen. :) Great job! Here's hoping 2022 is by far better than the last two.
