Welcome to Thursday's Art Date, today our theme is Coils. I had a tough time with this theme...but I took to my Spirograph and started to make some coiled flowers...I thought, well, maybe I could add one (digitally) to my cartoon this week. I came up with the squirting flower gag! Of course, Daffy Duck had to be the one to receive it from Bugs Bunny....what a stinker! ๐

Any Little House On The Prairie fans out there? Do you remember the nasty little girl named Nellie Olson? She had the most amazingly perfect coiled curls! She was so horrible to Laura Ingalls and usually got her come-uppance!!! I did a quick doodle of her in ink and graphite. If you were a fan of the show, I'm sure you remember the wheel chair scene...I think I jumped up and clapped when Laura pushed Nellie down that hill!!
I'm a big Three Stooges fan...though Shemp is my favourite, Curly is a close runner up! Those Howard boys...So I asked Curly what he thought of Nellie Olson's hair...that was his response! ๐ Any Stooges fans out there?
Okay enough with the coils!!! Let's eat! I made two, count 'em TWO Pour In The Pan Pizzas this week!!
I had a chocolate craving (sorry Joyce! ๐), so I made chocolate chocolate chip muffins! Sorry I can't share, they are all gone!
If you eat toast, what do you put on it? I had a hard time deciding between strawberry jam and my Homemade Cheez Whiz!!
I passed by the duck pond and saw these lovely creatures. Aren't the colours amazing?

The picture of the spirograph is great, it reminds me of the past when I had it and my children were so excited about it too.
The curls with the nasty facial expression, oh yes that was a bitchy girl in the film with her mother!
Great drawings with the rope or with the facial expression with the eyes.
That's funny about the tree, it really looks like a face and I'll wave to you, you wu went for a nice walk again with the dog and the pretty ducks!

ReplyDeleteOh Rain I had so much fun with my Spirograph as a child, wish I had it now, what a clever tool that was it makes a good rosette for Bugs to wear with pride. I chuckled so much @ your Nellie Olson, my how sour faced she was do you think it's because her ringlets were pulled extra tight hee hee..

yes, I see the old lady in the wood. And, yes, the Mallard pair looks great. They do have nice colors. :)

The garlic is supposed to be healthy so I gave it to my daughter who has asthma. But, she turned out to be allergiq to the garlic. Not fun!

You gave me a toughie there Rain. But, after a little thought I found birdy coils. Nellie Olson? Yes, I remember now, a horrible child. If you have any trouble eating those muffins my grandkids will help you out big time. You grow garlic too? I thought it grew only in warm climes south of the Equator. Shows how much I know.

ReplyDeleteI am enchanted by the picture of the pair of Mallards, seriously beautiful and seriously overlooked. We have grown garlic but our yield has never been especially prolific. The other day I bought some blue cheese from New Brunswick and it was delicious - and expensive! Like all things from NB, however, worth its weight in gold! If ever COVID relents I am looking forward to visiting again.

ReplyDeleteOh Rain!!! Chocolate chocolate chip? WOW ! My favorite toast is peanut butter and mayonnaise...don’t judge . I do see the old wise woman of the woods! I love to find those things in nature. When we see some boards being cut on a sawmill, sometimes I see the faces of animals, or people...freaky, but when ya see it, ya can’t unsee it! Lol! That garlic looks just like mine! Great! Love those ducks! How’s sweet Jack?

Oh my, you do like the scary movies, don't you :)Your drawings are wonderful and accurate and your trailers ... Yikes! You have been in a pizza mood of late ... all look delicious. Not sure about cheese and jam on the same piece of toast though, but chocolate chip muffins I could go for :) We haven't started our gardens yet this year ... usually wait until May because the rain keeps everything muddy. But, that said, I am having to weed the perennial flower beds already. Those pesky weeds, I swear they grow all winter. And yes, I do see the crooked smile and pretty face in your wise old tree. We have that in common ... seeing faces in things that is. all for today ... Have a wonderful week of Spring :)

Hi, Rain! I haven't even read your post, although I saw the photos. I'm just touching bases with you. Terry had a bad heart attack and heart stoppage on Saturday. He's alive and doing well, but we're both still shocked and exhausted. I'll be back!

Apparently Michelle Pfeiffer is afraid of water so she didn't have to look so terrified I guess since you already actually was! Would love to see more tours of your Gardens and more Critters that you're getting? We're going to be redoing part of our backyard and then pretty soon we'll be getting ready to plant some veggies. Finally warming up! Supposed to be 75 this weekend

ReplyDeleteI didn't drool too much at the pizza pics this week, Rain, because we had homemade Detroit pizza for dinner. It was really good, almost like a Sicilian pie baked in a metal 13x9 pan. The dough reminded me of focaccia bread too. Those chocolate chip muffins would have been all gone in our home as well. Rope is a good movie and even more so because it's based on a true story of young killers, so sad.

ReplyDeleteOh that poor actress who played Nellie, hated forever and with good reason! Great portraits all around. I actually prefer when Ford plays the villian. I've really grown tired of that deer in the headlights look of his. Yummy pizza and muffins, until last week I'd been having one double chocolate muffin a day. Now I'm having a diet, lol. Each one of the ones I ate from the grocery store bakery was 700 calories, yikes! But oh so good. :-) xoxo

(although I am sure Pa would chastise us for hating anyone, with a twinkle in his eye ....) Oh, I think I put on a pound just looking at the chocolate decadence of those muffins. I Loved your art (that squirting flower just is so perfect for that stinker Bugs,I can hardly believe it was never an actual scene in a Saturday matinee cartoon! Also always love your reminders of great old movies (I keep adding to my list , because someday we’re going to get through all the shows in our Netflix queue )). And as always your food! I like toast with peanut butter, but your half n half could make me change up my morning routine.
