Welcome to Thursday's Art Date, today our theme is Urban Legends. Tweety Bird and Bugs Bunny are re-enacting a very cute version of a popular urban legend: The Tooth Fairy. I remember receiving dimes whenever I lost my baby teeth...I wonder how much The Tooth Fairy leaves kids these days? I recently read a much more sinister version of this legend...I'll spare you the details!! 👀

| This is Trigger. He ran away from a neighbour's home 12 days ago. They rescued him from a bad home and were trying to re-home him when he squirmed his way out of the collar he was wearing. He's a 3-year old Sharpei. He's been roaming the blueberry fields. Alex and I have been out daily trying to find him and bring him home. The SPCA has a live trap set up at an abandoned camp where he was last seen. Fingers crossed we find him! I'd love to keep him if we can find him, but we'll have to see how he gets along with the six other furries first! |
OCT 24 UPDATE: WE CAUGHT TRIGGER!!!!! He's currently at a (no-kill) shelter being looked after by a vet and they will find him a good home! 😇😇😇 We realized that it would be too much for us to keep him, plus him and Charlie did NOT get along! Our dogs come first. I know he'll find a loving forever home!

Hi. Nice tooth fairy you have today. :) Sadly I don´t have any children in my family now. They are all grownups. So no tooth fairy around.
ReplyDeleteYour four-legged friends really looks hungry. I hope you find the runaway one. :) Garlic is said to be good for you, but when my daughter was about 12 I tried garlic in order to improve her asthma. Turned out it got worse. She was obviously allergic to them. But you probably has to trouble.

I can't bring myself to read your post, Rain (though my eyes landed on the words "Black Eyed Children..." after seeing the picture and I now have to work to get that out of my mind. lol Thank you for providing the always entertaining and endearing pictures of your animals. They got me down to the comment section where I can leave you a note to let you know I was here. :)

ReplyDeleteThe Twinkie legend was in the news last week. When it appeared that the Hostess company was out of business and Twinkies would be no more, a guy saved some. That was in 2012. Recently he ran out of deserts. So he went down the basement, opened the 2012 vintage Twinkie, and TOOK A BITE. He must have cravings that I can't even imagine. It was HORRIBLE. The remaining Twinkies are being examined in a lab that studies bizarre microorganisms. The photos were disgusting.

Very nice art, as always, Rain. I am with Becki again, scrolling quickly past the spooky bits! Love those critters, and your food pics. You did get a nice little haul of potatoes! Glad you got your garlic in. It is one of the easiest things to grow, and I think if I could grow only one thing, garlic would be it. Good luck with the dog-catching!
ReplyDeleteGreat spooky stories and art, Rain! My Rare One is trying her hand at growing garlic too and just planted hers a week or so ago, after she rototilled the garden in preparation for next year.
ReplyDeleteLove the bugs bunny and the Twinkie made me laugh. A lot of the "fairy tales" when you read the original were less than the happy ending ones we know today. Most were very gruesome in fact.

ReplyDeleteThat gif of Jack and Marlene is precious. Marlene has such a pretty face, so innocent. Trigger is a pretty boy. He looks like he has black velvet for fur. I hope you catch him. I would save those potatoes for planting next year. When the time comes, cut them and mix them in fireplace ashes and then plant them. Save your fireplace ashes this winter in a big bucket or drum and then mix the planting beds with it.

He is a beauty too bad he is a runner. We had a runner once too. We changed a few things in our home and that fixed it. Your potatoes look fantastic! I just took garlic out of the freezer and planted it as well. I was wondering what to fix for dinner tonight and now I know Pizza. Thanks LOL Have a great day.

ReplyDeleteOh where to start ... I guess from the top. My FH and I have been watching reruns of the TV Series "Bones" ... Have you watched it? Anyway they just had a program where their little girl lost a tooth and the Mom (Bones) was insisting that giving a child money from an unreal entity would confuse them and wasn't appropriate. While her husband (Booth) insisted it was an important part of growing up ... can you guess who won? Anyway, as always, your artwork is excellent, especially the pastels on black paper. You have really mastered that process :) Oh, my heart aches for Trigger. I hate that animals pay the price for peoples inhumanity. I do hope you find him and are able to integrate him into your family ... it won't be easy though. He is going to have a lot of fears built into his personality. So, I didn't know you planted garlic in the fall ...do you use store bought or are those from your previous gardens? Can you email me the process. I know my DIL would love to plant garlic. She puts it in everything :) Perhaps the people who lived in your place fed the grouse and she is waiting ... maybe even depending on a handout. Do you put food out for the birds? I think you would attract some magnificent specimens if you did ... just sayin' :) Anyway Marlene and Jack waiting for supper is a familiar site, especially the licking tongue :) Wonderful, fun post, Rain. I hope you guys can get closer and rescue that dog or someone can before the snow flies I'd hate to see a dog freeze to death out in that kind of weather. Well at least you got some vegetables harvested! Starting with a new house and everything is tough so maybe next year you'll do better. Or if you have lots of great produce available locally anyway you could always support your local farmers

I sure do miss your blogs. I hope that the babe is caught and taken back to where he ran from. He will learn that being rehomed and loved is not so bad! I bet you have been getting ready for your first winter in the new place! I love it. Although I am not looking forward to winter but I am loving our fall like temps right now. Wondering how classes are going or if you are finished. You have grown in your art.

Uuuh, your urban legends are pretty scary (apart from the tooth fairy ;-)) - but that goes very well with Helloween. And I like your artistic implementation very much.

Hi Rain, these stories were certainly just in time for Halloween this week, thanks for posting them. We do not decorate or have any plans for Oct 31. Our grandchildren in RI will dress-up but are not going out trick or treating. Their mom told us she discussed it with them and they opted out. However, a family relative who lives in the state is having a small family gathering so they will be able to wear costumes. Too bad many children will be disappointed and adults as well.
