Hi Everyone! Happy Sunday! ππ
I hope you are all happy, healthy and living life to its fullest! We are! We spent a lot of time in Nature the last week and it was a much needed break. I mentioned on my last post that we followed a very dirty sandy road for miles that led to a bog and protected wildlife area. Along the way we found this secluded little spot by the river. We had to climb down quite a ways, but it was worth it. We spent a few hours here enjoying a picnic lunch that Alex made for us. π
We were lucky to see lots of wildlife on those excursions like this bullfrog.
Look at this beautiful turtle. We saw it on the road and had to stop to bring it over to its pond.
There are some BIG birds in this area, we saw some eagles, falcons and herons.
In this area of the bog, we heard a buck deer rut call. I tried to capture this with my silly little cell phone microphone but all I could capture was the wind and the occasional "did you hear that Alex?" LOL...
This is the sound we heard. It was coming from the trees in the back of the logged woodlot, every minute or two. (For some reason this video doesn't always play but you can click on the "watch on You Tube" link, the sound is at 1:15.)
We were fascinated by these sounds, we stood on these logged tree trunks for nearly an hour just listening and enjoying what we were hearing!
We decided to head home when the sun started to set. I personally don't like driving at night, but we specifically came out to see wildlife and the best time to see/hear them is at dawn and dusk.
Some of you have seen this photo, I posted it last week. On the drive home, we saw a black bear cub running across the road, his mamma was waiting for him in the ditch. Our first bear sighting!
We had to drive very slowly because every few hundred yards, these little brown rabbits would shoot across the road.
When we got home, we sat outside to watch the Perseid meteor showers. This was the second night we sat outside. I was fooling around with my camera and yes Monica, I pulled out the tripod this time π! I got a nice photo of the Big Dipper.
I can't be sure, but this could possibly be part of the Milky Way. I still need to learn more about night photography, but this is pretty darn cool!
The days have been so hot and humid! Here I am with Marlene, swimming in the stream. Our Marlene is getting older and she feels more confident when I hold her in the water. By the way, no bathing suits here! I was in there in my shorts, t-shirt and hiking boots!!!
I was SO PROUD OF MY JACK!!! With Alex's encouragement, he actually went for a swim, but we had to throw the ball in to entice him! Although...we discovered that a leech was heading right for him. If you look at the tall green weeds to the right-bottom of this gif I made, you can see a black worm-like thing snaking through the water, that's the leech. I can't believe I got it on camera. I was kind of freaked out a little, but I do realize there are leeches in so many waterways, we just have to be careful and check ourselves and the pets when we jump in the drink!
Not so good pet news...as many of you know, I post a few times a year about Charlie's allergic reactions to (what we think are) spider bites. Well, it happened again. Poor girl, her face balloons up and her eyes swell shut. The telltale sign is that she scratches her snout mercilessly just before she starts to swell. When we see that, we have only a few minutes to pump her full of Benadryl while she can still swallow. It's FREAKING SCARY...but the Benadryl works and as I type this she's completely back to normal. Oi.
Oscar is such a sweet cat...he's so affectionate and easy. Whenever he purrs, he REALLY vocalizes...it always makes me smile to hear him so happy! I was cleaning the bathroom when he decided to join me and show me some love! π
I haven't only been frolicking by the river lol...I spent three days taking down the old curtains that were left here, washing windows and installing our sheers and curtains. The house will take a while to become our own, but we are slowly getting things installed, repaired and organized!
My Sunday post wouldn't be complete without some food photos! Every month on the 14th, Alex and I have a fondue dinner - we celebrate our monthly "anniversary" that way. It's been 7 years and 5 months now, and we had our favourite Smoked Cheddar and Apple Cider Fondue. We had it with a nice wine from the Puglia region of Italy. (See Linda? We don't follow any rules for "pairing" wine either!! π)
After one of our Nature days out, we wanted something hardy and comforting...pasta it is with lovely and delicious fresh shredded and "petaled" Parmesan!
Last night I made Chinese food: Stir Fried Rice, Garlic Noodles and Sweet and Sour Cauliflower (served in a pineapple!).
Oh strawberries and cream! How I love thee! πππ
Thanks for stopping by my Friends! See you on Thursday for our art date, the theme is Night Scene! PS: I wanted to let my Friends know that I'm back to responding to all of my comments! During the move, I couldn't find the time, but now I do because I love it so much, so check back for a response. Sometimes it takes me a week, but I will always reply!!

I LOVED your nature packed post. And what a spectacular sunset.
ReplyDeleteLove that purr too.
Leeches? Shudder. Years back after hiking in a rain forest I had more than forty of the suckers - including one in my ears. I still cringe thinking about it.
Stay well and stay safe.
Glad you now have time to actually start exploring and enjoying and not just working. It looks so beautiful. How fun to go into the river, but glad that leech missed you! Have lots of fun exploring your new world! And what a fantastic turtle you found! Your food looks gorgeous, as always. I haven't cooked for weeks, it's too hot, so I'm eating yogurt, fruit and cheese - not bad at all! Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

ReplyDeleteIt's good that you can help Charlie so quickly because of the allergy!
What a wonderful area of pure wilderness and the many wild animals that you have seen and heard. Great and to bathe in this river but with the leeches huiii but it works! The pets also like it a lot, dogs and cats are petted and petted.
The food is so delicious again. There will still be a lot to work on your house and around!
I wish you all the best!
Hug's Elke
Hello, Rain. Greetings from Malaysia! I like your nature trail and the photos. You are so kind to save the turtle the long walk to the pond. First time I hear a deer's rutting call. Breathtaking sunset. I love nature but not the creepy crawlies especially the leeches. I am glad you have the antidote for Charlie's allergy. Your Chinese food looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a busy life you lead! Good to finish the day with a glass of Italy's finest, strawberries and cream, and a sunset π. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures of this walk.
ReplyDeleteNice that you helped the turtle.
The pictures of the sunset are also beautiful.
Nice that you made a poison of you and the dog in the water.
The food looks delicious.
Greetings Irma
Awesome wildlife pictures. I zoomed the stars pictures and could see so much better. So many stars. I had some strawberries and cream just yesterday afternoon. Soooo good.
ReplyDeleteI have a question. Do you have a wood burning stove or fire place? Reason I'm asking is that I noticed all that wood lying around when you were standing on that tree stump. It would be a good idea to start stocking up on wood. and canning veggies for the winter.
Hello Rain,
ReplyDeleteI love spending time in nature, looking for the wildlife, watching the sky and just enjoying the scenery. Your photos are beautiful, so much to see. I love the cute frog and turtle. The sunset is gorgeous! The bear cub and bunny are adorable! The swim with the dogs looks refreshing, without the leeches. I hope Charlie is doing better. Sweet video of Oscar purring. Your food looks delicious, I love pasta. Thank you for linking up your post and critters. Enjoy your day, wishing you a great new week ahead.
It is wonderful to live in the nature!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.
Hi Rain, nice to visit my second blog in use. Eileen that host Saturdays Critters and I have been blog friends for at least 10 years. There are more palaces you would like if you have not found them yet. One is Angie hosting Mosaic Monday, she also live in the mountains.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are sooo lucky to have found this place to live. A place that offer so much in nature and wildlife. And dark nights :) Glad you took the tripod out. There are Astro sights that you can follow to find out what to see on the skies on a daily basis. You can probably even see the Aurora often. There are a sight predicting the "Northern Light weather".
I wish I had a place like your to go to.
No need to mention Take care.... I guess. :)
I love all the wildlife photos ~ So much to see & search for! When I saw you swim I thought oh what a brave girl then when I saw Jack's video with the leech !! ahhhhh not for me ~ that's what I was afraid of! That's bigger then I thought they were even.. oh no. Poor charlie, it's good that the Benadryl works and that he has you to take care of him. Loved oscar's purr ~ I might have to do that with my cat Mojo he is sooo loud too. it's sweet. Food looks yummy, especially dessert. ~ Enjoy your Sunday
ReplyDeleteHello Rain,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post with nice pictures. So amazing to see that wonderful nature area.
And a delicious mail after a day when you came back. Lovely!!
Greetings, Marco
Wonderful how you are settling in, please send me your new address!
ReplyDeleteLove your Sunday post! All the nature photos are gorgeous, looks like you found a perfect spot for your picnic lunch. Love all the fur baby photos too. So glad Charlie is ok now! Your food photos all look absolutely scrumptious. I think I need some fondue now, it's been years. Hope you have a great Sunday :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place to picnic and LOOK at all those sights (and sounds, I'm sure). You are so happy living where you are planted and that is really great. Poor pup with the allergies. That is always scary.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Sunday- Diana
what a lovely post Rain! I love seeing all the nature walks and the swimming dogs (even with leaches!), just love it especially as the creatures you encounter are not seen around here (apart from deer maybe, small ones!) - you have made such a fabulous decision to move there, what a great lifestyle. I hope the big concrete wall is a thing of the past now and that you can start getting your home to feel more like yours gradually. Your cat is incredible, my past kitty Amber was pretty noisy and we used to have chats to each other, but I have never heard one quite like yours before! I hope your veggie garden is thriving. Betty x
ReplyDeleteYour pics are lovely! I can SO relate to you exploring your new piece of turf! Do you have a lot of crown land around? That stream looks very inviting, especially in this hot summer we have been having. That is some big Wood Turtle! It is a Threatened species in Canada (COSEWIC), and Endangered in Ontario. Are you very sure about the sounds you heard? Its a little early for the rut. How is your garden growing?
ReplyDeletei love the bulldog and the turtle! the leech, not so much. i'm never going in the water again after seeing that!
ReplyDelete...your frog and turtle images are wonderful, I rarely if ever get to see them. Being a sunset-aholic I like them a lot!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Charlie's okay! Nasty spiders.
ReplyDeleteIt looks and sounds like you had a wonderful outing with amazing sightings. That frog, is it's head truly aqua blue or did you use a filter that made it like that?
ReplyDeleteWishing you so much summer fun.
Your posts bring back so many wonderful memories for me. I lived this life when I was younger and there is nothing better! Enjoy your Sunday.
ReplyDeleteWow, leeches and spiders. Be careful out there. Your food looks good, I could eat all of it. Lol. Just love the beautiful night sky. It all looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elephant's Child :)) Oh my gosh, forty...in your ear...I feel so grossed out for you. That must have been horrifying. I've been in that water several times and that was the first leech sighting. We were there for a while...all that splashing maybe attracted it, yuck!
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie :) It's so hot here too, but we LOVE to eat, so I try to get most of the cooking done in the morning and we just reheat it. We have an a/c in the kitchen so that helps. Your food sounds very good though!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elke :) Yes, we still have so much to do in the house, but we figure it's going to be a "life project" no rushing for anything...play time is important! :) I really love this area, we are very lucky! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy :) Yeah, I'm not fond of any creepy crawlies!!! That leech freaked me out! And it went after Jack, my little hound dog, no way!! :) Any time we see a turtle on the road, we stop and move them to the other side so they don't get hurt. They are such amazing critters! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Phil :) Oh yes, every day is finished with a glass of vino! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Irma :) The skies here are so "big" and the sunsets are gorgeous, we're very lucky to be living here! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Leanna :) The night sky is INCREDIBLE here...even the last place, it was a small village but we couldn't see the sky like we do here. It's pitch black out there. I was hoping to get some meteors while the shutter was open but it didn't work out, I have to read up on the settings...it's pretty new to me! Yes we do have a wood burning stove. Problem is that it and the chimney are not up to code so we can't get insured for it. Because of the car and the well, we can't afford to get it all up to code this year so we are not going to use it. Next year we'll be re-shingling the roof, so we'll do it all at the same time. But you're right, we can really harvest where they logged, it is permitted. And yes, I will be canning 100+ pounds of tomatoes soon! I found a tomato farm! (My garden is not producing this year sadly!)
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen :) Charlie is back to normal! What a relief, I hate putting her on Benadryl, it makes her so dopey but she needs it unfortunately. It was really something else seeing the bear cub and mamma...so close to home too. I'm so glad I found your critter party! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Italiafinlandia :) I love living here, we really got lucky finding this place! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Monica :) I'll be checking out Angie's blog, thanks for mentioning her! We haven't seen the Northern Lights here, but you may be right, on a good night we might see them. I'm going to have to keep an eye out...I follow a site called Earth Sky Tonight, it's pretty cool, though admittedly I don't check it out every night! We have a beautiful sky to explore! I do feel lucky! :) But I still need to fool around with my camera and learn about all of its features.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen :)) Yeah, that leech...the more I see it, the less I'm interested in being in that water lol...they really are bigger than I thought too. And FAST swimmers, shudder....Oh your cat Mojo does what Oscar does! It always makes me laugh when I hear him vocalize so much!!! He's so loud, I always know where he is lol! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marco :) This area is like heaven for us! We only moved here just over 3 months ago and we feel so lucky! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Christine :) I just sent you an email! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha :) I will agree that I think you need fondue too lol...in fact, I crave it for days after we eat it! Charlie is doing well...until the next time, gosh I hate when that happens to her!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diana :)) Yes, we found a great spot for the picnic! Lots of big birds around that part of the river too.
ReplyDeleteHi Betty :)) Thanks! :)The swimming was fun, but I still can't stop thinking of that leech, eegad. I think our concrete wall days are behind us, I really do! Each day gets better than the one before, we are so grateful! LOL that's funny what you said about chatting with Amber, I do the same with Oscar!!! :) Oh the garden, well, NOT thriving unfortunately...I'll have to post about that soon. I think all of the rock dust that covered it when we had the well drilled, kind of stunted its growth. Mind you some things are doing well like the potatoes and we're starting to get some squash! I seeded late so I knew from the get-go that this was an experimental garden for this year!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosalea :) This area is pretty much all Crown land. There are acreages that people own, but once you get a little further from the cabins and cottages, all Crown land. Beautiful area. We listened to so many sounds on the internet when we got home and we are pretty sure that's the sound we heard. We were listening for an hour. I know the rut season is in the fall, but that's the sound. Our neighbour told us that the deer around here go through "pre-rut" in August and September and they could be making sounds earlier than the fall. The garden isn't really doing well! Some parts are, like the potatoes but nothing is really growing! Not for lack of sunshine and water either! Those turtles are on the "threatened" list here in NB, it feels good to help them off the road, they're amazing creatures!
ReplyDeleteLOL Joyce...I may not go back in either now! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom :) I like that you're a sunset-aholic! I think I am too! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra...nassssty things those spiders, I agree! :) (I'm hearing Gollum's voice saying that lol!)
ReplyDeleteHi Tammie :) Oh yes, this place is amazing and we're so grateful! I can't believe our luck in finding such great Nature all around us!!! :) Nope, no filters on my camera! The only thing I ever do is resize and play with lighting so things are easier to see. That's his true colour, kind of neat huh?
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole :) You are SO right...nothing better than this. We are very lucky! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Gigi :) Yeah, those creepy crawlies...eek. Can't stand them. We're so lucky to see all of those stars! :)
ReplyDeleteRain, thanks for visiting my blog. You have a very fascinating blog full of many wonderful things.
ReplyDeleteMB
Poor pup..Allergies can be tough..Love your variety..Great pictures..So much wild life..What a great place to live..Thanks for stopping by..Have a good week..
ReplyDeletesince it is my first visit here, i am just now getting to know you and i surely enjoyed this post!!
ReplyDeletelots of energy, a love for nature and someone who loves to cook. you are lucky to be seeing some big birds, i see herons in my area, rarely eagles and never falcons. i always enjoy seeing the big birds!!
the chinese food looks amazing, something i never cook, we always get take out chinese - i like the way you served it!!
good luck unpacking and getting settled. i have lived in the same house my entire married life = 42 years!!
You have such a lovely area to be exploring. All the wild life is so cool to see. The leech is not part of the cool wild life though. Do you guys have ticks and fleas there too? I can deal with bunnies, deer, bears and all those things but not so much bugs and slithering creatures. So nice to see Jack swimming and Marlene with her mom making her feel secure. So glad Charlie is much better after her allergic reaction. Oscar loves his momma.
ReplyDeleteIt does take time to make a new place all yours. You have done so much already. With all the 'issues' you had when you first got there, you still have managed to remain upbeat and looking for the good in all situations.
What a wonderful post. It's nice to spend lots of time in nature. Your sunset photos are absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing and for your visit. Have a great day and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWhat a SUPER post. I loved seeing Jack in the water, until I read about the leech! I love river swimming, but not if wildlife attaches to me! We have problems with deer ticks where we live. Horrid things. I had a battle to remove one from my upper arm this week. I've removed many from my dogs over the years with a handy little gadget, but I no longer have a dog and there was no sign of the gadget.
ReplyDeletewow you ARE living your best life here. I so enjoyed seeing these photos and even though you have had obstacles along the way - what I feel when I see and read you is so beyond just an ordinary feeling - it's nature wrapping you up and giving herself as a present. i love this post.
ReplyDeleteSo thrilled to meet you and join your wonderful blog, Rain,
ReplyDeleteYour new pal, Cloud
Rain,
ReplyDeleteYour nature shots are soothing. What a contrast it is to city living! As I said, I would like being out in the middle of nowhere for a week or two but then I'd miss the conveniences of the city. I'd rather be live just outside the city, more like country living with the city not too far away. You did a nice job on the night shoots. That's really a hard thing to get. I've done very little shooting at night but would like more opportunity to dab with it. Your sunset pix are gorgeous. It looks like the sky is on fire! As usual your foodie shoots have me licking my lips. Yum! Oh yeah, you mentioned that you haven't made home made ranch dressing. I tried another recipe which is very close to the one I share except it had equal part of mayo, sour cream, and buttermilk. I backed off on the buttermilk since I ha a problem with my first recipe being too thin and another thing I did was double the herbs. This go around was much better. It's by far better than anything we've gotten from the store. Enjoy your Sunday afternoon. Stay safe and be well, dear friend! {{hugs}}
Thanks MB :) I'm glad you enjoyed my blog post today! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Missy :) This really is a great place to live, we are enjoying it so much! Yeah, the puppy allergies are hard to handle, we feel so helpless, but she's all better now! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie :)) Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed my post! I have to stake out the big birds, especially the eagles. Alex and I go hiking by the river and all is quiet, then suddenly we hear a flurry and off flies an eagle. This is a first for me, eagles. By the time I have my camera out, they are long gone! Oh 42 years in the same house, I hope that's my future! I NEVER want to move again!!! :) We live so far away from any town or city that takeout and delivery is not possible, so I try to make diner-style and takeout-style foods from scratch! I saw the pineapple presentation on Pinterest and I thought it would be a fun idea! :) Thanks for your sweet comment! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouraging words Marsha! :) It's so true, we had SO many hurdles at first! I love this place though, we are having a great time with the nature aspect. And yeah, I'm like you, slithering and buggy isn't my style at all! I was so proud of Jack. He doesn't like going in the water but I guess because Alex was there he felt more confident! :) Don't know if we'll be back in the stream or not...that leach is still on my mind.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Bill :)) We really live in an ideal spot here for our lifestyle. We're certainly blessed!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosemary :)) I love how you put that "not if wildlife attaches to me"...I'm with you on that one!!! We haven't had any issues with fleas and ticks here. But we do medicate the pets monthly for them. I hate doing that but we have no choice. One flea in the house makes for many a flea-bath and a full house scrubbing down. I went through that many years ago and never again! We have a flea and tick comb and we routinely check the dogs just in case!
ReplyDeleteOh Sandy I love your comment!!! I love that you said Nature is wrapping me up to give herself a present, so nice! xxxx I had to wait 52 years and I've been through hell and back but finally I found my happiness! :))) I really feel complete despite any obstacle!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cloud :) So happy to see you and thanks for visiting and enjoying my blog!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy :) I'm glad you enjoyed the night shots! You're right, they really are hard to do. I think reading the manual may be needed lol...I hate reading manuals lol! :) I need to try a Ranch dressing, yes, I did mention I put that stuff on everything! I'm getting my cooking mojo back now so next shopping trip I'll make sure I have all of the ingredients!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHello Nature Rain! Great post, and very happy to see that you are soaking in the wonderful energy of the land you own, and the land around you! I can actually hear it in your writing, how completely happy and healthy you all are! We have been in our new place on the ridge for two and a half years, and we still have to put aside the work load, to go back and stomp in the woods! Lol ! It gives me energy and such peace and contentment....nothing like it! Have a terrific week!
ReplyDeleteHi Dino :)) I love that, "Nature Rain", that's me alright! :) I know what you mean about being out in nature giving you energy...we really felt relaxed and natural out there. Very fun! And no, there is NOTHING like it! We're very happy! :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting post! You walked in a beautiful area and found some interesting critters. (I watched repeatedly and didn't see the leech. I think that's just as well!) Glad your pup responded to the Benadryl. Nothing more scary than a sick animal.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Sequim Daily Photo.
Hi Kay :)) I think it is just as well that you didn't see the leech! This really is a beautiful part of the country and I'm blessed to live here! Yeah, I cannot handle it when any of the pets are sick or in pain, it tears me apart. I'm really happy Charlie is better now. Thanks so much for your comment! :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous area you live in to see wildlife. Have you had any deer eating your garden yet? My mother grew up with a river running through her farm and she said when they went swimming in the river, they took a salt shaker with them. If anyone came out with a leech on them, they sprinkled it with salt to make it fall off. I don't know if that's a reliable method, but just a bit of fun trivia. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteHi Jenn :) Yes, I've actually heard about salt drying up the leeches, apparently they just fall off when you salt them. That's really not a bad idea! So far I haven't seen any deer around my garden or on the property. I see them on the logging trail and in the blueberry fields across the road though. I don't think they've found me yet thankfully!! But my neighbour planted apple trees and he had to fence them with chicken wire because the deer kept eating his apples! So they're close! I check the garden daily and so far I've been lucky! But honestly, the garden isn't really doing very well this year, sigh...if the deer wanted a snack, I don't think I'd mind!
ReplyDeleteYou have such magnificent places to walk! But poor Charlie. She must be miserable when that happens and I know you worry. Nice to see you making your new house your home!
ReplyDeleteHi Rain, I really enjoyed seeing photos showing more of your great new “neighborhood” and how much you and Alex and the pets are adapting and enjoying. Kudos to Jack for going into the water and sorry to read about Marlene, but glad she’s doing better. The fondue celebration looked delicious as always and is such a great tradition. Also, I didn’t see the leech which is perfectly OK with me.π
ReplyDeleteWow spectacular shots ...loved that particular sunset shot.It would be my pleasure if you join my link up party related to gardening at this link http://jaipurgardening.blogspot.com/2020/08/garden-affair-link-up-party.html
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always so rich and diverse!
ReplyDeleteWe have leeches in our pond. I found a huge one one year.
We used to have them at the lake, and kept a container of salt nearby, just in case.
Thanks Leigh :)) This area is incredibly wild in some spots, I'm sure there is a lot more to discover too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dorothy :) That's okay if you didn't see the leech! I wish I hadn't, but in a way I'm glad I'm aware now! The "neighbourhood" is wonderful! And so was that fondue...can't wait until next 14th so we can have more! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Arun :) I'll see if I can join in! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Jenn (Jilks), thanks! Jenn from Coffee on the Porch With Me also suggested salt. If we do go back into that stream, I'll have a bag of salt handy!
ReplyDeleteHi Rain, thanks for such interesting posts. I had to go back and read a bunch to get caught up on what is happening. Loved seeing the wildlife, stars, pups, and food. You write well and share wonderful photos. I also share your love of the outdoors.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jocelyn :))I'm glad you enjoy my writing and the photos! Being outdoors is like heaven to me, it's nice to me people who feel the same way! :)
ReplyDeleteI did see the leech!!! I had forgotten there are such things as leeches. :) Oh Rain, your post is wonderful! You and Alex have found the perfect place. Reminds me so much of when Poppy and I found our little place in the woods. The wildlife around your new home is amazing. Love all your sweet animals too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Henny :)) I forgot about leeches too, until I saw that one, yuck!! We definitely have a little bit of paradise here, and I'm so grateful! :)
ReplyDeleteYour nature scenes are outstanding. Like you, I would be nervous driving around that area in the night. There are so many creatures that I would fear running into.
ReplyDeleteYour sweet kitty sure does have a Lou day and unusual purr. She sounds and looks very contented.
Thanks Arleen :)) I wish I felt more comfy driving at night, I'd likely be out nearly every night watching for wildlife...I'm too nervous though, like you, I fear running into critters. Oscar is a very happy cat! :)
ReplyDeleteI love all your pictures of your paradise as that is what it looks like! I am so happy for you all! I love the curtains and that you will be sharing as you make your place your own. It inspires me! Ick, leaches....I'm not sqeamish about a lot of things but leaches .....ick!
ReplyDeleteSTay safe!
Thanks Sam :))) I can't believe we found this piece of heaven, really....I'm so grateful!! Yeah, leeches...ick ick and ick. They really are grosse, in all honesty, I haven't been back to the stream since that day!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, leeches. How do you take one off? What neat wildlife you saw on your excursion. I like seeing your fur babies. Makes me smile; we miss Mortie around here and I think Minnie gets lonely sometimes.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos as always, Rain! And with the wine from Puglia, you made my day! We have very good friends down there, we visit every two years or so. Can't wait to visit them again, once this C thing is all over and it's safe to go. have a great week and see you on Thursday for TAD!
ReplyDeleteHi Stefanie :) Yeah, leeches, ick. Apparently you can douse them with salt and they fall off...or you burn them off. Either way I don't want to find out! I'm sure you miss Mortie, I'm very sad for all of you. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Kokopelli :) I would LOVE to visit the Puglia area...just for the wine!!! Lucky you! :) See you on Thursday! :)
ReplyDeleteI love getting out in nature and this would be a great place to spend the day...or longer! LOVE that turtle. I don't think I've seen one like that! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lavender Dreamer :) It was such a great day and I hope we can do it again soon!! That turtle was beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, I am following your 92nd comment ... You are really building up a following :) This was good, I love your nature outings and I am thoroughly impressed with you catching that leech(ugh!) in your photo. I have swam where there were leeches and it kind of puts you on edge waiting to be sucked on ... ugh again! Anyway, good for Jack. It took us a long time to get izzi in the water and she still resists even when the opportunity presents itself. AND your food ... why oh why didn't you move to my neighborhood. I would have been on your doorstep daily... I would, of course, find some way to repay you for all your delicious meals, but you make my mouth water and put me to shame as I have no urge to cook anymore ... sad, huh? So glad things are going so well for you all... it has been a long hard pull, but you are making it work. Awesome, Rain!

Thanks Andrea :) You're comment made me smile :) It would be so cool to live close to each other. I feel like that about so many people I've met on Blogger. We are forming some nice relationships here! :) The leech was G R O S S E...I haven't been in the stream since then...I don't have the nerve! Oh and there aren't really 92 comments, I answer each one individually, so half that! :) Still though, it's fun to interact with this community! :)
