Hello Friends :)
How are things with you? Things are great here, busy but great! I've been into the cheese making again. The above photo is a Parmesan that I made yesterday, it's brining as we speak, then I will age it about 6-9 months.
I'm also in the process of making a Jarlesberg. I'll age that one about 6-8 weeks. If I can pull off a "Swiss" style cheese...there will be LOTS of fondues in my future!! :)
I'll post about these two cheeses on my cheese making blog in the next week or so!
I also made some Boursin style cheeses. One with a mix of herbs and garlic, one with green onions and one with my cherry coulis. (See my post on Rainy Day Cheese Making for the recipes!). This meal was so good, the berries are so sweet! I love summer eating! :)
More cheesy goodness...Asparagus and Fontina Tart.
And Breakfast Tacos!
Could Baby Oscar be MORE lazy??? He's cooling off over the A/C in my office!
Leo and Charlie asleep on the front porch. For anyone interested, this Thursday's Art Date theme is "Patterns"! Hope to see you there! :)
Oh my the cheese looks absolutely delicious, as does your food.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
All the best Jan

ReplyDeleteWhat you have done with cheese making is amazing! You're not afraid to tackle anything! I love the cat picture! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteYour cheese is amazing. And I appreciate kitty photos so much more now that we have kittens ourselves.
ReplyDeleteCheesy Goodness!!! I can't wait until this fall to get into that fun! Your Oscar looks like how I feel most afternoons! This 89 degree weather is really taking it out on my old body!...lol... So great to hear from you Rain, and I hope you have a great art day! Pumpkins keep throwing their blossoms... think the heat is getting to them ;( … we'll see.
ReplyDeleteAll that cheese makes my mouth water. My gawd, these are the laziest fur babies ever. Well, maybe not. My Lucy sleeps all day long and then begs us to go to the bedroom to go to bed at 7 pm. Such a lazy pupper.
ReplyDeleteHi Rain, I love the picture of Oscar and the one of the dogs and cat relaxing together. I love summer eating also! Nancy
ReplyDeleteOooh... Cheese again! I am just in awe - not just that you make cheese, Rain, but that you can leave it alone all those months for it to age. I just know I'd be tempted to cut into it just to see it's done already!
ReplyDeleteMOUTHWATERING food dear Rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteyour cheese making sounds like an art class to me and what a brilliant performance :)))
i truly am so inspired how you keep yourself busy in all kind of creative jobs:)
hope your leg is responding well to your yoga and exercise my friend!

Oh my ... all that cheese ... yummmm !!!
ReplyDeleteYour animals look just like mine ... they are all lazy in this heat ❤
Thanks Jan :) I can't wait to try one of the cheeses I made!
ReplyDeleteYou got that right Sandi :)
ReplyDeleteHi Susan :) Oh good luck on the weight loss...you know that "cheese hips" are in now? At least that's what I tell myself lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joyce :) I've been doing a version of Oscar too lately!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn :) I'm really enjoying the cheese making this time around!
ReplyDeleteThanks Agnes :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Stefanie :) Yes, I know what you mean about the kitty photos! I always grew up with dogs and only have cats since the last 6 years!
ReplyDeleteHi Dino :) My pumpkins are doing the same too now...but I did see a little one forming! I think it's one of the sugar pumpkins though, so it won't be too big. I really hope they start to grow soon! Yeah, the heat has been here too the last week, and the humidity is coming back today blah! What kind of cheeses do you make?
ReplyDeleteHi Leanna :) The pets are so lazy lol...my Jack is like your Lucy, he could spend his days sleeping.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy :) Nice to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Becki :) Trust me, it's not easy...just last night I was looking at my Parm and I was SO tempted to just cut a wee bit off, but I stopped myself!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Baili :) The three cats take turns on that tiny shelf to cool off lol...then they are right back into the sun. Funny creatures! I LOVE the cheese making, and honestly it is an art in a way...I have learned so much over the years about it and I still have way more to go! Yes! The yoga is working very well, yesterday I can say I had very little pain! :))))
ReplyDeleteHi Sis :) Yes...the cheese...I can't wait to taste them all. I'm kind of obsessed right now and want to make some every day lol! Hope you all can cool off soon. Here it's getting down to about 10 each night so at least it gives the house time to cool off.
ReplyDeleteRain,
ReplyDeleteIf I lived at your house I'd be plump as Miss Piggy! Oh, goodness everything looks so good, too. I love cheese but I don't like eating a lot it because I don't want to look like Miss Piggy. lol I bet having your home cheeses and fresh bread is an excellent treat. Yum! I don't blame Oscar for being lazy when it's hot then napping is about all you feel like doing. Cooler weather will be here before we know what happened and it'll arrive there sooner than here. Have a good evening, dearie!
Oh Miss Piggy!! LOL Cathy! She was a strong lady, I admire her and I don't mind having her hips lol :) Oh yeah...the homemade fresh bread with the cheese is such a treat! And you're right about the cold weather, I just want to enjoy every hot humid moment while I can! :)
ReplyDeleteHAHA was it you that left the comment on my blog about the cats having lots of space on their shelves but they still have something hanging off? I love it that your babe is hanging off! Cats, I have learned the last two yrs are funny and amazing. Sorry I missed so many yrs not knowing that. WOW, you two are just so CHEESY for sure. If I ate that much cheesy I would stay stopped up!! haha, sorry I just had to throw that in there. I love your blog. I love seeing the furbabes and the beautiful settings you produce at dinner time.
ReplyDeleteHey Pam, yeah that was me! :) I've learned a lot about cats too. I'm a dog person at heart, but when I met Alex he had 2 cats and I learned to love them and see how sweet and silly they can be! Baby Oscar is the epitome of sweet and silly! Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy my blog!! :)
ReplyDeleteCheese is one of my favorite foods and I would never be able to resist eating it after making it, but then I do know it has to age properly. The asparagus tart looked wonderful and so did the breakfast taco. Oscar does have the way to cool down.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dorothy :) Trust me, it's hard not to taste the cheese!! Especially when you see the rind developing and the fragrance enhancing! I can't wait to try all of these! That asparagus tart is really delicious. I used store-bought puff pastry, one day I'd love to make my own when I have the patience!
ReplyDeleteMy mouth is watering! It really is! LOL! Give your fur babies hugs from me! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteBoursin style cheese?? yes please!!!
ReplyDeleteOh stop! You were killing me in your "Patterns" post because of your delicious food, and you have to nail down my coffin with these gorgeous cheeses and top it off with a sacked out kitty over an air conditioner! LOL! Wonderful post, my friend!
