End of July Update
Hello my friends!
I made a little video for you today, just another update on what's been happening here lately. :)
I'll be visiting you all soon! I hope life is very good for you! :)
Hee hee hee...Dianna, I can't even see your potato bag in that jungle...it's INSANE. Thanks for the comment! :))) I think the harvest will only come in late September or October...I really want to wait until the last possible minute for these, I think last year I harvested them way too early and I got mostly new potatoes. I want big BIG taters for the winter!!!
you are going to be like forrest gump and baba with their shrimp when you harvest those potatoes! mashed potatoes, tater tots, french fries (omg, the poutine!), scalloped potatoes...you get my drift! you have a sea of potatoes! i don't blame you, if i only got 4 months of sun I might do the same, though i doubt it. four months of sun is way too much for me! you will have plenty of time for blogging once the snow falls. enjoy what's left of summer rain!
OMG Joyce, I laughed so loud at that Forrest Gump comment...all I could hear was Bubba's voice...ha! Thanks for the laugh! I know you'd prefer 12 months of October!!! ;) I HAVE to find some time to stalk your blog...I want to see how the pups are doing!!!
Awwww...this was so cool. I can't believe this ... I've known u all these years and never seen u "live" before...lol It looks like u are having a fantastic summer. I love your potatoe jungle :) we are eating our potatoes already ... and they are sooo good :) thanx for sharing this. Can't wait to read about your home cooked dog food experiences. See u on Instagram ❤
Really sis??? We've known each other since....2007? Is that right? :) The potato jungle is kind of crazy....I don't go over there after dark lol....hee hee...it's kind of scary! I think the home cooked pet food will be great, we're doing it for the cats too!
You are such a sweetheart!!!! It was lovely to see you, and hear, you and catch up a bit, with your summer.
I'm so happy you are completely enjoying your summer!!! There is so much 'moaning' in Blog Land, about the length of heat/humidity, so many have been having. Including me. I admit. I've been moaning too. -sigh-
So it is very delicious to see someone, who is soooo happpppy with her summer!!!!!!!
And how wonderfully your garden grows!!!!!!!! Yessss!
Keep enjoying the lovely weather. Don't spend one more minute inside, than you have to. The cold months will come. "Make hay while the sun shines," as the old saying goes.
Thanks Wisps of Words :))) HUGS back! :) I think you may moan when I tell you how I RELISH the 40C+ humidex lol...I just feel grateful for each moment in the summer because of the long winters...if I could sleep outside I would...but we still have too many mosquitoes!!! :) So nice to hear from you! xx
I really enjoyed your video. You're a good writer, but there's really no substitute for seeing and hearing a person. I hope, if you don't blog anymore for awhile, you can post some more videos to keep in touch.
I love this video you have made, Rain. How nice it is to get to know you better. I hope you continue to have a wonderful summer and you think of lots of recipes for your lots of potatoes.
Well that was fun to watch. I wouldn't even know how to do that and put it on my blog. Hasn't this summer been fantastic? I know everyone was moaning about the heat, but I love it when summer feels like summer. Good looking potatoes! -Jenn
Hi Jenn! :) Thanks :) Oh my gosh it's been a fantastic summer here in the Great White North ;) That's why I'm so far away from the computer! :) I can't wait to see how many potatoes I have to harvest!!!
rain, was catching up a bit on your site. dog allergies. we have a cat whose face swells up a couple of times every summer. he gets a shot of 'depo' [i think that is the name] at the vet and it helps right away. i think your dog has allergies and for some reason they pop up in summer. no way to tell what the specific allergens are. i give the itchy dog benadryl every day now. he will probably need it until cool weather.
back again. i think dog has had 4 different kinds of food since he itched with all of them. eggs are one allergen for him but i now get grain free dog food so don't know what is itching him this time. i recently switched him to people food. hope he can stop itching. is scratching less already so it is people food for him.
the prescription pet food is so expensive . have one cat on it for urinary issues. 2$ per can! more expensive than people food.
when we have the money he will have an operation that straightens the kink in his urethra. that will save problems later and then he can eat regular food, so money saved from that ,i hope.
It's just the coolest thing ever to see you LIVE and in person, and I don't mind sharing that potatoes are one of my weaknesses.(lol) Such a happy hat too! Hugs...RO
So good to hear from you and look at those freaking potatoes! You are amazing! I'm so happy your garden is doing so well and that all is good in your world. I will email and catch up with you on IG! I didn't know you were on there! I can't post on IG because I only have a land line...no smart phone. TTYL! Enjoy!
How wonderful to see and hear you, Rain. I don't blame you for not blogging. I imagine your summers are just beautiful. I enjoy whatever you post, whenever you post it. Here, the summer heat is a good excuse to be inside blogging - just as much as cold and snow is in the winter. Love the looks of those potato plants. Hope you enjoy those come fall and winter.
You are so cute Rain! So good to see you! So happy everything is going well! You are a potato Queen! Wow! Good luck with your fur babies. I'm sure everything will go well with their food! Big Hugs!
Thank you for the update and I don't blame you for being outside as much as you can. You're so adorable and have a lovely voice <3 Have a gorgeous summer.xxx
I just stopped by to visit because I was missing you and afraid you might be ill or having something sad going on. I was delighted to watch your video and find that the reason you're not blogging is because you are enjoying summer and living the good life. More power to you! Enjoy and have fun. Connie :)
Hi Deborah :) I hope your dog stops itching on the new food! It's too early to tell for us right now, I read that it takes about 10 weeks to see a difference. Our husky Marlene was on the S/O formula for bladders in the crystals. But I give her cranberry pills and probiotics each day and she loves water, so far she's been okay and she's been on the home cooked food longer than the others, about a month now. Oh your poor little cat...I remember how expensive pet surgery is...good luck saving on that. 3k to have my late pug's eye removed back in 1997. Crazy.
Hi Becki :) Thanks :) I very tempted to harvest some new potatoes now...but I really just want to wait until they get really big! I'm hoping that they will last the winter!
Thanks Magic Love Crow :) So far the fur kids LOVE that food...I should take a video around meal time, oh my gosh...the noises they make in excitement lol!
Hi Yarrow :) Thank you :) I use my phone actually for the video. It's an Android and the camera is really good. I transfer it over to my computer and upload it from there. It's fun. :)
How nice to hear and see you on video! I can so relate about not wanting to spend a lot of time at the computer. Especially when your weather is so nice. Enjoy your summer! And thanks for the update.
what a joy to see you talking in front of my eyes ,totally different but very special experience i must say :)
