Mummy Stromboli

Mummy Stromboli
Yield: 3-4 side servings

Ingredients

Pizza dough at room temperature (enough to make one 9" pizza), here's my recipe for Thin Crust Pizza Dough
Flour for dusting
Pizza sauce, here's my recipe for Rain's Marinara Sauce
Toppings of your choice
One olive for the eyes
1 egg. slightly beaten

Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 375 F (190 C or gas mark 5). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Roll out your pizza dough on a very lightly floured surface (if necessary); into a rectangle measuring about  13" x 9 " (33 x 22 cm).

3. Transfer dough to prepared baking sheet. Using scissors, cut strips on both sides of the dough, leaving a good 5-6 " (12 x 15 cm) area uncut down the middle of the dough.

4. To the middle of the dough, spread pizza sauce - don't overdo it!

5. Sprinkle on toppings of your choice.

6. "Dress" your mummy by criss-crossing the strips across the "body" of the mummy.

7. Cut an olive in half and place the halves onto the mummy to create the eyes.

8. Brush with egg and bake for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Tip: Depending on how many toppings and the size of the strips you cut, your stromboli could leak!
