July 25th's theme for our art date is: X-Ray/Negative Image. (please visit Rain's Garden on Thursday July 25th to post your link!)
I feel as though this could be a tricky one. I've done a lot of black and white art that uses negative space to create what I want. I'll be including some of my own art work and some definitions that I hope inspire you!
"Negative space is, quite simply, the space that surrounds an object in a image. Just as important as that object itself, negative space helps to define the boundaries of positive space and brings balance to a composition." - Creative Bloq
"In traditional photography, a negative image was what was exposed on film when a photograph was taken. The process of printing a picture involved reversing the image, so that all its negative values were made positive. In color photography, the negative image contains complementary colors to that which is being photographed." - Artsy Net
"X-ray:
a) an electromagnetic wave of high energy and very short wavelength, which is able to pass through many materials opaque to light.
b) a photographic or digital image of the internal composition of something, especially a part of the body, produced by X-rays being passed through it and being absorbed to different degrees by different materials." - Websters
A lot of my negative style art is done in black and white, either using acrylic paint or Prismacolour Pencils. But you can definitely use colour too:
I'm looking forward to seeing your creations! The following are all from an internet image search to inspire you!
