February 27th's theme for our art date is: Leaps and Bounds (please visit Rain's Garden on Thursday February 27th to post your link!).
Our theme today was inspired by the fact that 2020 is a leap year. We have 29 days in February this year! Leap year was created in the 16th century to keep our 365-day calendar year in sync with the solar year, which is just a tad shorter. Adding one day each four years to our calendar keeps everything in neat order. People born on February 29th are called "leapers".
To leap is to spring free, to go from one topic to another quickly or to "jump" at the chance of an opportunity. You can leap over a stream, take a leap of faith or you can grow by leaps and bounds.
If you want, you can separate the phrase and just go with a "bound" theme. You can be bound to your job, be honour-bound to seek vengeance like in the old movies, have a leather-bound book or be bound to have your own way.
