Hello Friends! 😊😊
August 13th's theme for our art date is: Swipe! (please visit Rain's Garden on Thursday August 13th to post your link!).
I took this photo last year. It was such a windy day that the camera decided on its own to swipe the image. I think it turned out pretty nice!
Here are some ideas to inspire you this week:
1. For paintings: Use another colour, a different paintbrush, a unique tool (sponge, credit card...) or your fingers to swipe the paint across your painting. You can do this across the entire canvas, or in some areas to create an image or texture you're looking for.
2. For drawings: A different coloured pencil/pastel/pen can be used to swipe an image you're drawing. An eraser can be used for this effect when using pencils and charcoals. Tissues and cloths can be used to swipe through a pastel piece.
3. For photography: I'm sure there are ways to swipe an image digitally! Or maybe using your camera itself...move the camera as you shoot your photos.
4. For food art: A sharp utensil can swipe a design into any dish! Swipe some jam across your toast this morning in a playful way...or try to swipe an image into the foam on your coffee! (Valerie I'm looking at you!!!)
5. For textural art: Mixed media is a wonderful way to create art and it opens you up to all sorts of ideas for swiping designs and textures into your piece.

And if all of the above doesn't "float your boat"...you can always "swipe" an idea from another artist and make it your own! 😉 I hope you all have fun with this!
