Hello Friends! ππ
Welcome to Thursday's Art Date, today our theme is What Do You See? Bugs Bunny is seeing his dream come true with a giant carrot garden right before his very eyes!
I started a coloured pencil course two weeks ago. The subject is an aging face with lots of wrinkles. I thought I'd give you an update on my progress since it fits well with this theme! I'm really loving the coloured pencils and learning a lot. For the Bugs drawing, you can see that I just basically used the pencils to colour things in. In this drawing, I used lots of light layers, shading and colour combinations to create a realistic looking face. I wish these courses were more than once a week!
We got BOMBARDED with snow last week...all I can see is a white world out there. I'm so tired of it, I can't wait for spring!
Who did I see coming in from shoveling the driveway? Baby Oscar in the window looking very focused!
My laptop crashed and I have to post via my phone. I don't enjoy smart phones at all...they give me a case of the horribles...π¬To make me feel better, Alex made me a yummy dinner of grilled cheese with fries.
It looks like we have about 2 months before our move...we have so much to do! It's very exciting!! It's going to go by so fast!!!
I'm also linking up with Paint Party Friday tomorrow!

It was great luck that I saw the realtor listing of our new home when I did! We got an offer in quick as others started to pop up! Note: Earlier, I had a photo of the actual house here on the blog, but it kept disappearing so I finally just took it down. Here's another one that shows a view of the backyard that our agent took just last week!

Definitely exciting and busy times with your move.
ReplyDeleteWow on the snow. I have never seen that amount.
Yay for the delicious dinner cooked with love.
And awe and wonder at your drawing. As always.
Hello Rain,
ReplyDeleteBunny is back in action watching his giant carrots. Great fun drawing.
* wow * this man with his wrinkled face and eyes are already beautifully painted.
This course is great because you can learn something wonderful. that would be great if it were more you forget a lot too quickly then.
so much snow and i would be glad to be able to walk in the snow like this, but you also have it longer and constantly it's different again.
This is bad with the smartphone hopefully you can find another solution. So dear Alex made you a delicious meal
How beautiful your new house and everyone so beautiful green.
I wish you all the best for moving a lot of strength!
Have a good time packing and moving, hugs Elke
Sorry about your laptop crashing, that's the pits. Working with a phone is NOT easy. Love Bugs Bunny and your great pencil sketch, well done. The food looks fabulous, as always! And your new home looks great, you must be soooooooooo excited. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteBoo Hoo on the laptop crashing, Rain, and hope there’s a fix possible. I use Macs both for my desktop and notebook and have always paid the extra $ for support. Believe me it has come in handy several times, like just this week! Nice that Alex made a comfort food meal and liked seeing the olive condiments too. Wow on the snowfall as we have been having warmer temps and only some rain. Nice to see your future new home which looks secluded as well. The two months will go faster than you know.
ReplyDeleteRain,
ReplyDeleteIs Bugs daydreaming about giant carrots again? lol That's funny!! Fabulous color pencil sketch! I love the details!! I hope to capture this kind of illustration someday. :) Oh gracious that's a lot of snow! I'd be so tired of this stuff by now if I lived there, too. I'm so happy to live here. I guess that's my cue to stop complaining about the weather. :D Yum, yum, yummy those fries look scrumptious! :p I'm happy that y'all got in on the house offer quickly. They do go by fast, don't they? Soon y'all be in your new place and lovin' it! Thanks for hosting the art date, my friend!
I´m no fan of phones either. Use it only for calling and looking at my IG.
ReplyDeleteNice to see your new home. Looks nice but, I guess. You will have some creative work in the garden as well :)
Like those giant carrots dream :) Now you can plant some carrots for him.
I like what you done with the face so far. That´s not easy to do.
Fun cartoon and the coloured pencil eyes are fantastic. You do well posting on your phone but awful about your laptop. Two monthsxwill go by so fast.
ReplyDeleteThe eyes are beautiful on the aging face drawing ~ Wow that is too much snow!
ReplyDeleteBaby oscar is smart to stay inside. I've joined your blog to follow along ~ I'm excited to see what everyone sees! Blessings & stay warm ~
Your aged face drawing is so good. Very realistic. You feel about your wintersthe way I feel about our summers. Like they never end. Your new home is adorable. It looks like there is electricity running to it. How about a sewer. I know that was an issue last year with your "off the grid" home you wanted and the bank was not keen on the remoteness of it. You will have lots of property for gardening too. I am very excited for you and can't wait to see the inside of the home.
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for your comments the last few weeks! When I feel stress, I'm almost paralyzed and I couldn't even answer comments or visit your blogs too often! I barely got my art courses done and squeezed the art dates in at the last minute.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite things about blogging in the interaction with people and I missed that. But the house buying process is well under way now so I'm a little more relaxed. Also, Alex fixed my laptop!! He found my most important files through a file recovery software and I have my keyboard back...not that tiny thing on the phone...so I can get back in touch with everyone!! I'm so grateful that Alex knows all about computers...I love that man!!
Hi Elephant's Child :)) Thanks so much :)) Oh the snow...seriously I can't handle it much longer. But March is always like that here. Milder temperatures but a LOT of snow!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elke :)) You're right, I learned a lot from this coloured pencil course so far! I never thought I could draw like this, I'm very happy I chose to take some courses! Yes, Alex is so sweet to have made me comforting food! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie :)) I never knew how much complaining I could do before having to use my phone to publish a blog post lol...awful! I'm SOO excited to move, thanks so much for your comment! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dorothy :)) I'm lucky that Alex knows about this kind of thing, he fixed it all for me! I used to have to pay for support too when I was living alone, I don't have it in me to figure it all out like that. I know, 2 months is NOT a long time, it's very exciting! :))
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy :)) Thanks! This week we'll be doing the nose and cheeks of the sketch, I really love this medium! Yes, everything went so quickly...it was just two weeks ago that I found the listing! Now I can relax a little until the move date! We already started packing! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Monica :)) Oh lol...yes, I can plant carrots for Bugs now! That made me laugh! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine :)) I know, 2 months doesn't really seem like a long time when you have to move a house!
ReplyDeleteHi Creativeseconds! :)) Thanks so much for visiting and following my blog!! :) And thanks for your nice comment! You said it, TOO MUCH SNOW. I think where we are moving, there will be a lot less (fingers crossed!) Enjoy the art and feel free to join in anytime! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marsha :)) Yes, this house is on the grid, has a drilled well and a septic system. So the bank ok'd it without any issues. I can't wait to get over there and plan my garden! It'll most likely be a container garden with a few things this summer, but hopefully by 2021, I'll have it all mapped out! We have so many plans for the place, I can't wait...I already know what I want to do with the kitchen and bathroom!! :)
ReplyDeletethe drawing of the aging face is amazing!!! that food looks so good too! two months is going to fly by!
ReplyDeleteI linked up because I showed a lot of things I saw this week, and the artwork was of my backyard neighbor's dog I saw daily til recently when he passed. I never know if my art fits your theme... hope so. Happy Thursday Rain! LeeAnna
ReplyDeleteThanks Joyce :) I know...it's going to fly by too fast! But I'm certainly not complaining! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks LeeAnna :) The theme is so liberal, so I'm sure your post will fit it! It's just a guideline, open to a lot of interpretation, and it's for fun!! :)
Wow, the aging face is amazing already -- looking forward to seeing the finished work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra :)) I had a lesson this morning, I finished up the nose and cheeks, I'll post next week! :)
ReplyDeleteYou tease us with a picture of your backyard ... seeing the map tells me there is much more to see and I can't wait to see it. I am excited for you ... I know how wonderful it is to find the home you know you will love. And, to be surrounded by nature is a blessing in itself. I know you are going to be busy ... very busy until you have moved and settled in. I hope you will be able to keep your Thursday Art Date thriving but a break here and there will be understandable.
ReplyDeleteSo Bugs sees his dream garden and just looks at it? ... The Bugs I know would be chomping down on at least one carrot by now :)
Your art classes are amazing ... or maybe I should rephrase that ... what you do with your art classes amazes me. Your colored pencil drawing (convenient that you started with the eyes, Ha!) is gorgeous and so very realistic. I love that you have the talent and the patience to pursue classes like that. I would be in and out and not there the day of or late or some stupid thing and thus I would never get the benefit of a class ... maybe one I paid for and could go sit down for an hour in my neighborhood, but even then, I am not sure I could do it. And even if I could get myself there, I don't know that I would be able to do what you do with your art. I have to admit, I admire your talent. So as usual, you have a wonderful post and sorry about all the snow you had to see ... We have had a very mild winter so far, but I trust that we will get blasted before it is all over in the Spring. Great job as always, Rain ... till next week when I assume we will see more face :) Did you hang your Rhino on the wall?
Andrea @ From the Sol
Hi Rain, sorry to hear about the laptop, i'm rubbish on my phone so i'd be useless at doing anything blogger on it. Great news about the move though, the backyard looks amazing. Your pencil drawing looks fantastic, I use pencil daily like others read a book to relax before bedtime, sketching and colouring helps me settle before sleep time. Your man has great character, I love the expression in his eye brows.
ReplyDeleteMissed out on getting over here the past couple of weeks, been busy with care duties and catching up with things neglected at home, really wanted to link up last week but knew i'd not have the time to come visit everyone sadly.
Fingers crossed I get chance to link up tomorrow... Hugs Tracey xx
P.S Happy belated Birthday btw hope you had a lovely day xx
I'm ready for spring!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first week playing and I somehow got on the wrong page. The link never appeared. I now know the link shows on the home page, not the page showing what we'll see in the future. I feel like such a dufus about now.
ReplyDeleteLove all your beautiful photos and images. Your cat is beautiful. Those eyes and facial wrinkles are amazing. I look forward to more next week.
Sounds like you will soon have a new home, too. Thanks for hosting this fun weekly event.
have a nice weekend Rain. Luv carrots
ReplyDeletemuch love...
oh i wish you an early spring dear Rain :)
ReplyDeletei share the dream with bugs as i love carrot either :)

Hoping the snow has shown you some love now Rain by gently melting away..??
ReplyDeleteSending PPF Hugs your way, so happy I did get chance to link up today xx
Wonderful cartoon and your eyes are stunning. Love your ginger kitty!
ReplyDeleteAll I wanna know is - does Alex have a brother, because those French Fries sure look yummy?(lol) Also, once again, it's heat wave of 60+ degrees in Winter here in NC, and I need all that snow here, please. (lol) Those wrinkles in your drawing sure look authentic nd I don't blame Bugs for being happy with those carrots!(lol) Hugs and more hugs to you Rain! RO
ReplyDeleteGreat work in progress
ReplyDeleteYour drawing of the man's eyes and wrinkles is very good. Keep going! As for your house, what a dream to own one. Congratulations, Rain.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting!! AT least your phone worked for your post! I sometimes travel to areas where I can not post a thing - no service outside of texting! Crazy how difficult that makes our daily activities!! Happy PPF!!
ReplyDeleteI imagine any bunny would love a garden of giant carrots- actually, me too:):) Oh that is SOOOO much snow! Thankfully it has been a warm winter for us in that the precipitation has been all rain.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful hubby to make you some comfort food, and then to be able to fix your PC too!
Your drawing of the aging face is great! Never been really good with colored pencils myself.
Cute pic of Oscar looking out the window:) Happy PPF and have a great weekend!
Sorry about your laptop. The snow makes me remember why I left snow country. LOL The drawing you did of the eyes is just incredible. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe aged face is coming on a treat.
ReplyDeleteI love your cartoon pictures Rain and the humour in them. Good luck with the new home, the snow looks beautiful - we don't get snow like this in the South/UK any longer and I miss it. Last time we had some I froze a bag in the garage to bring out in the Summer - silly I know :)
ReplyDeleteExciting times ahead, Rain! So pleased for you. Will you be going to see the house before your move or are you planning to just move right in. Let's get together before you leave!!! We can pick a small area between you and me and hook up for coffee/tea/breakfast/lunch/whatever and a chat. My one and only chance to meet you and hug you. Until I make my way to the East Coast...hopefully one day!
ReplyDeleteGreat Bugs illustration!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Your coloured pencil face looks amazing already, Rain...well done indeed!
You're looking forward to Spring while I'm looking forward to our winter here. I hate the horrible humid heat here in summer. We are officially in autumn now but we're still having hot, humid days.
Oscar looks so sweet! Is it true that ginger cats have a friendly temperament?
You're moving?! Are you staying in the same area or is it a huge change kinda move? So you bought a place? Congratulations! Sounds exciting!
Thanks Andrea :)) I didn't think I'd have the patience to follow the art classes at first because my mind frame was always that I wanted to see the finished work FAST...but I'm learning to slow down and take my time, and that's the biggest lesson I'm getting from them! Taking my time allows me to follow the technique that I'm enjoying to make the art more realistic. I don't know that I will always do realistic looking pieces, but I'm really enjoying it right now! The Rhino is safely packed away in a box with a lot of my other art! We have already started to pack!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Tracey :)) I'm so glad you could link up! I nearly missed PPF this week because I was afraid I wouldn't have time to visit others too. I'm glad I was able to fit everything in! I agree with you, when I'm sketching and painting, I do find it very meditative and relaxing, what a great idea to sketch before bed! I should try that! We luckily didn't get any more snow, but I'm seeing rain in the forecast for tomorrow...lots of it. It's going to be a sloppy mess out there but I don't mind as long as I don't have to shovel!! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too Jenn! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth :)) So happy to see you here! Don't feel like a dufus, lol...I love that word! Thanks for your comment, I'm really enjoying learning with the coloured pencils!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gillena :))
ReplyDeleteHi Baili :))) Nice to see your comment!! I do hope we have an early spring!! I can't wait to move, it's all very exciting! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Anesha :) Oscar is such a sweet cat, he still acts very kitten-like and he's about 4 years old.
ReplyDeleteHi RO :))) Nice to see your comment! LOL...Alex is one of a kind, so sorry about that ;) I would gladly swap your heat wave for our snow!
ReplyDeleteThanks Clare :))
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Gigi :))
ReplyDeleteIt's true Tammie, we rely so much on technology. And I do rely on my laptop. Posting through my phone was challenging, but I got it done. Alex fixed my computer so I was able to go back later on and fix spelling errors and add things thankfully! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda :)) I've seen rain in the forecast for tomorrow, so all of that snow is going to have to find a place to go! The spring melt in this area is very messy! We're uphill from the river, so I'm happy about that, it floods a little each spring. I was never really good with the coloured pencils either, but I learned the layering technique and it really works well! I love that medium now!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole :)) Yes, I'll be happy to leave this snow belt...we seem to get a lot more here than even a few towns over!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lin :))
ReplyDeleteThanks Betty :)) I'm glad you enjoy my sense of humour! Not silly, I think that's really cool that you saved some snow!
ReplyDeleteHi Martha :)) Yes yes yes! I can't wait to get together!! The day we drive out of here is the day we move into our new home. There is so much to do...the lady sold it with everything in it, so we will have to sift through her stuff to see what we are keeping and what we will need to trash. I think she left 6 beds in there, one for each of the pets lol. We may be without hot water for a while too while we wait for a new water heater, and I don't know when we'll have internet, but we're going to make it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Serena :)) I can't speak for all of the gingers, but Oscar is definitely a sweetheart. He's so affectionate and gentle and he loves to be carried around, he's such a baby that's why we call him Baby Oscar! He loves to hang out with the dogs, where the other two cats can take them or leave them. I saw your comment on the last post, so you know we found our home!! It's about 1000 Km away from here, kind of in the middle of the province of New Brunswick. It's a really nice area, very low population and lots of nature all around! It's very exciting!!! It's true your winter is on the way! I'm looking forward to stifling heat lol...I think I'm one of the few people on this earth who welcomes heat and humidity! :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the new house - the backyard looks great - big! I think you have done a great job on the layering of colored pencil. I love learning that somewhat when I would do tutorials over at Wet Canvas. You sure have a talent for this - ...and of course bugs bunny drawings.
ReplyDelete2 months ... YAHOOOOOO .
ReplyDeleteThat aging face looks incredible !!!
Hey Rain. I am soooo excited for you. Really, really wonderful news. Cheers to you and Alex and to your new home in less than a season away. Cheers and boogie boogie.
ReplyDeleteWow! Two months before your move, that's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBusy and exciting times ahead :)
Your food looks delicious.
All the best Jan
Oh boy, you've got me craving normal food bigtime now. And a belated, happy birthday to you!
ReplyDelete
